Mount Olive makes its second consecutive NCAA II volleyball postseason appearance as the Trojans earned the No. 6 seed in the Atlantic Regional of the 2005 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship, it was announced Monday morning.

Mount Olive takes on No. 3 seed Edinboro (Pa.) in the first round Thursday at noon at Lock Haven, Pa. Top-seeded Lock Haven University is the host school for the regional.

Mount Olive (28-7) earned one of five at-large bids to the eight-team regional. The Trojans made their first-ever appearance in the NCAA II volleyball championship last year, also as the No. 6 seed in the Atlantic Regional.

Mount Olive is coming off a runner-up finish in the 2005 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Volleyball Tournament, falling to Lees-McRae Sunday. The loss snapped the Trojans' 13-match winning streak. Lees-McRae received the No. 7 seed and will face No. 2 California (Pa.).

Thursday's first-round contest marks the second time this season Mount Olive and Edinboro (25-15) will have played each other on Lock Haven's court. The Trojans fell to Edinboro 3-1 last month at the Lock Haven University Volleyball Classic.

The other two first-round matches pit No. 1 Lock Haven against eighth-seeded North Carolina Central and No. 4 Slippery Rock (Pa.) vs. No. 5 Indiana (Pa.). The semifinals take place Friday and the regional final is slated for Saturday. The winner of the Atlantic Regional joins the other seven regional champions in the National Finals Dec. 1-3.
