Luft, a 5-10 junior middle hitter from Swansboro, N.C. (Swansboro HS), overcame a flu bug and fever all week to help Mount Olive post a 5-0 record during the week and move into a first-place tie in the conference standings. Luft tallied a .481 hitting percentage and averaged 4.19 kills per game as the Trojans won five matches in a span of six days. Luft reached double figures in kills in each of her last four matches, capping the week with a season-high 19 kills to go with five blocks Sunday against Belmont Abbey.

Luft, who now has 1,007 kills for her career, joins Trojan senior Heidi Busch, sophomore Sam Mitchell and freshman Mallory Peavler as CVAC Player of the Week winners this season, giving Mount Olive a player from each class to win the award.

Mount Olive is ranked No. 8 in the NCAA II Atlantic Region Poll with an overall record of 24-6 and a 17-1 mark in the CVAC. The Trojans are on a nine-match winning streak and have set a school record for most conference wins in a season.

Mount Olive plays its home finale today as the Trojans play host to Pfeiffer in a CVAC match-up. Mount Olive has won its last 20 home contests. Match time is 6:30 p.m. at Kornegay Arena. Seniors Busch, Sara Christie and Colby Mangum will be honored prior to the start of the match.
