PINE LEVEL -- Spring Creek's Paula Webber fired a 49, while teammate Jenelle Archer shot a 51 as the Gators claimed a win in Class 1-A Carolina Conference action on Monday at the Cardinal Country Club.

Spring Creek finished with a score of 100, while North Johnston (116) and Princeton (126) finished second and third, respectively.

Kortland Stanfield paced the Bulldogs with a 58.

Spring Creek hosts Princeton at Walnut Creek on Wednesday.

Aycock wins

14th straight

MOUNT OLIVE -- Charles B. Aycock finished off Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference play with an unblemished, 10-0 record after an 8-1 win against Southern Wayne at the John Neal Walker Tennis Center on the campus of Mount Olive College.

The Golden Falcons (16-1 overall) have now won 292 straight in conference play in a streak stretching across 27 years.

Aycock got pro-set singles wins from Raychel Batts, Carlyn Claiborne, Laine Purcell, Lizzie Sodoma and Kristen Prosser. Southern Wayne's lone singles win came at No. 3 by Tara Hirsch.

In doubles, the combinations of Claiborne-Purcell, Taylor-Sodoma and Prosser-Katie Perry helped the Falcons finish off the win.

Aycock will host the Coastal Conference's No. 2 seed when the N.C. High School Athletic Association dual team playoffs begin on Oct. 18. The Saints concluded the season at 4-6 in league play.

Middle schools

Norwayne volleyball d. Spring Creek 25-17, 25-12, 25-19 -- Miranda Aycock and Beth Carter led Norwayne (8-0) from the service line. The Cobras travel to Brogden on Thursday.

Eastern Wayne football 44, Brogden 0 -- Will White rambled for 155 yards and three touchdowns as the Warriors handed the Rams their first loss of the season. Linwood Grantham added 110 yards and two TDs. White emerged the defensive leader with 11 tackles. A.B. Scott, Ricky Bell and Matt Stover each recorded six tackles. Eastern Wayne (4-0) won its Wayne County Middle School Athletic Conference Division I opener and plays host to Greenwood Thursday afternoon.
