Four-team boys tournament breakdown
Goldsboro Cougars (Goldsboro) -- Coach Randy Jordan leads the Cougars back to Reynolds Coliseum, where Goldsboro competed in the 2003 Class 3-A N.C. High School Athletic Association state championship contest. The tradition-rich program is paced by juniors forward Daquan Joyner and junior wing Tim Kornegay.
Statesville Christian Lions (Statesville) -- Coach John Jordan anticipates having as many as five players earn Division I scholarships. Mantas Leonaviscius, a 6-8 forward who has committed to Hofstra, is complemented on the perimeter by 6-5 Doneal Mack.
Christian Brothers Colts (Lincroft, NJ) -- N.C. State recruit Dan Werner, a 6-7 forward, averaged 16.2 points per game for last season's New Jersey Non-Public Class A state runner-up. The Colts, coached by Ed Wicelinski, thrived defensively, surrendering just 38 points per outing en route to a 26-3 record.
Seattle Prep Panthers (Seattle, WA) -- Panthers 6-11 center Spencer Hawes, a UNC-Chapel Hill recruiting target, may be the big man, but his teammates are not without big names. A pair of Jordans -- surnamed Bremond (6-1 guard) and Brandon (6-4 forward) -- and 5-10 playmaker Kevin Herring complete a quartet of returning starters for Coach Michael Kelly's squad.
