HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Reid Clewis scored the game's only goal in the 49th minute and nationally 13th-ranked Mount Olive recorded its third consecutive shutout as the Trojans defeated Coker 1-0 in Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference men's soccer Saturday at Hartsville. The win extends the Trojans' unbeaten streak to 12, going back to last year's CVAC Tournament.

Mount Olive (8-0-1 overall, 4-0-0 CVAC) outshot Coker 16-0, but the Trojans were held scoreless in the first half for only the second time this season. Mount Olive broke the deadlock three minutes into the second half as Ryan Brown lofted a pass over the Coker defense to set up a one-on-one for Clewis, who scored his seventh goal of the season.

Clewis, who entered Saturday's play ranked second in the CVAC in goals and points, has scored a goal in seven of the Trojans' eight wins this season.

Mount Olive, which has six shutouts in nine matches this season, has held the opposition scoreless over the last 297 minutes. The Trojans are 10-0-2 in their last 12 matches and have a 22-0-2 mark in their last 24 matches when scoring the game's first goal.

Mount Olive, ranked No. 2 in the Southeast Region rankings, will have one of its biggest tests of the season Wednesday as the Trojans head to Pembroke to take on UNC Pembroke. UNCP, which is in a three-way tie at No. 3 in the Southeast Region rankings, advanced to the national semifinals of last year's NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship.
