Prep roundup -- ND football tops Dixon on Saturday

HOLLY RIDGE -- North Duplin outgained Holly Ridge Dixon by over 400 yards on Saturday night as the Rebels picked up their first win of the year with a 40-0 whitewash in Onslow County.

The game was originally scheduled for Friday, but was rescheduled due to Hurricane Ophelia.

North Duplin senior running back Montreal Garner finished with 181 yards from scrimmage with three touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving). Doug Lloyd rushed for a score and tossed two touchdown passes -- finishing with 219 yards through the air on 15-of-26 passing.

Ryan Killette added one touchdown reception and one passing touchdown to Sherman Hyatt. Desi Smith finished with four catches for 66 yards for the Rebels, who travel to Hobbton on Friday.

North Duplin's defense limited the Bulldogs to 15 total yards on Saturday as Dixon gained just nine rushing yards on 26 carries, less than 1/2 yard per cary. The Rebels had 15 first downs to Dixon's six.

The Bulldogs visit Spring Creek on Friday in Seven Springs.

Hyo Wan had Wayne Country Day's first two goals in a 4-1 win over Wayne Christian on Saturday afternoon at the Chargers' field.

Ha scored at the eight- and 15-minute mark, before David Wilson scored on an assist from Travis Davis to make it 3-0 before halftime. Ryan Ford took an assist from Sam Steed to give the Chargers a 4-0 lead, 13 minutes into the second half.

The Eagles scored their lone goal with 15 minutes left in the match.

Wayne Country Day (7-2) travels to Henderson to face Kerr-Vance on Tuesday.
