GAFFNEY, S.C. -- Reid Clewis' goal just after the 51st minute broke a scoreless tie and Chris Roush posted his third shutout of the season as nationally 13th-ranked Mount Olive defeated Limestone 2-0 in an NCAA Division II Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference men's soccer match Saturday afternoon.

The win extends the Trojans' unbeaten streak to 10.

Mount Olive (6-0-1 overall, 2-0-0 CVAC) and Limestone (2-4-1, 0-2-0) went into halftime tied 0-0, marking the first time this season the Trojans failed to score in the first half. But the Trojans got on the board six minutes into the second half when Adam Caston played a ball to Chris Varela, who found Clewis for the first goal of the game.

Clewis has scored a goal in each of Mount Olive's six wins this season. The Trojans also improved to 20-0-2 in their last 22 matches when scoring the first goal.

The Trojans added an insurance goal six minutes later during a scramble in the box when a loose ball went off a Limestone defender for an own goal.

Roush, who had a 286-minute scoreless streak snapped Tuesday at Guilford, recorded four saves for Mount Olive. Limestone goalkeeper Ryan Robinson made six saves. The Trojans outshot Limestone 13-10.

The Trojans are off until Wednesday when they play host to Pfeiffer in a CVAC match-up. Pfeiffer handed Mount Olive its first conference loss last year after the Trojans opened the season 7-0-0 in the CVAC.

Match time is 4 p.m. at Trojan Field.

Saints blank Trojans

GAFFNEY, S.C. -- Erin Hoffman recorded a goal and an assist to lead Limestone to a 4-0 victory over Mount Olive in CVAC women's soccer action Saturday afternoon.

The loss ended the Trojans' streak of nine consecutive wins against CVAC opponents.

Mount Olive (4-4-0 overall, 2-1-0 CVAC) and Limestone (4-2-0, 3-0-0) were scoreless until the 32nd minute when Hoffman assisted on a goal by Lee Cribb as the Saints went into halftime with a 1-0 lead. Hoffman extended Limestone's lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 58th minute. Cathy Zgraggen and Brittany Owen scored goals for the Saints late in the second half.

Trojan goalkeeper Heather Ulep recorded seven saves, while Limestone goalkeeper Liz Eichhorn recorded four saves. Limestone outshot Mount Olive 16-9.

Saturday's contest was a rematch of the quarterfinal round of last year's CVAC Tournament, won by Mount Olive. The Trojans will have another CVAC Tournament rematch Wednesday as Mount Olive plays host to Pfeiffer. The two teams met in the semifinals of the tournament last season. Match time is 2 p.m. at Trojan Field.
