Rosewood's Goss Kendall and Drew Kriger scored second-half goals, turning a 2-2 tie into a 4-2 win for the Eagles at home on Wednesday against Farmville.

The win marked the first of the season for Rosewood (1-3), which hosts Wayne Country Day on Monday.

The Jaguars started the scoring 29 minutes into the first half as Edgar Cardona notched a goal on a penalty kick.

Then, Rosewood's Kyle Bunn and Selving Sabillon scored two unanswered, before Farmville tied it at 2-2, 23 minutes into the second half. With two minutes left, Kendall and Kriger put the game away with one goal each for Rosewood, which outshot the Jags 20-4. Kriger also dished out one assist.

Trevor Morris had two saves in goal for Rosewood.

Chargers blank

Southern Wayne

Wayne Country Day sweeper Travis Davis posted a hat-trick (three goals) as the Chargers improved to 5-1 with an 8-0 win at home over Southern Wayne on Wednesday.

Ryan Ford, the Charger goalie, came out of his keeper position to post two goals in the second half. Will Futrelle scored twice and added one assist in the first half, while Sam Steed tallied one goal. Jeff Franklin notched one assist.

Wayne Country Day hosts Charles B. Aycock on Friday.

WILSON -- Greene Central's Hugo Trejo scored the Rams' lone goal in a 2-1 loss at Wilson Beddingfield on Wednesday.

The Rams (2-1-1) host Ayden-Grifton on Monday.

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock's No. 2 doubles team of Nicole Taylor and Lizzie Sodoma rallied back from a 3-0 deficit to win 8-4 as the Golden Falcons swept Greenfield School 9-0 on Wednesday at home.

Aycock will take a 6-1 overall mark into today's home match against Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference foe Kinston.

Raychel Batts, Carlyn Claiborne, Nicole Taylor, Laine Purcell, Lizzie Sodoma and Kristen Prosser emerged with straight-set wins in singles. In doubles, the combinations of Batts-Claiborne, Taylor-Sodoma and Prosser-Katie Perry finished off the sweep.

CALYPSO -- North Duplin's Katie Swinson, Elizabeth Lane and Sarah Jackson claimed singles wins at No. 4, 5 and 6, respectively, as the Rebels dropped Spring Creek 5-4 at home on Tuesday in Class 1-A Carolina Conference action.

Spring Creek got singles wins from Stacy Smith, Kaitlin Murphy and Jami Johnson.

In doubles, North Duplin's No. 2 team of Jana Best and Brittany Coley and No. 3 team of Crystal Williams and Crista Jones helped finish off the win for the Rebels. The Gators' lone doubles win came from the No. 1 team of Smith-Murphy.

North Duplin (1-1 overall) improved to 1-1 in conference play and travels to James Kenan on Sept. 13. The Gators (0-1, 0-1 Carolina) face Kenan today.

Parrott Academy of Kinston turned in impressive play through its lineup and defeated Wayne Country Day 9-0 on Wednesday.

The Patriots picked up wins in singles from Lauren Herring, Regan Holleman, Lauren Sale, Christina Joyner, Chelsea Viscardi and Tildan Mauck. In doubles, Sale-Joyner, Mauck-Viscardi and McKenzie Davis-Wesley Singleton helped finish off the sweep.

The Chargers won just two games during the match with Georgia Tanner winning one at No. 3 singles and the doubles combo of Dia Proimos-Laura Balmer taking the other.

Wayne Country Day fell to 0-3 on the season.

The Rams' Ashley Harrell, Michelle Jernigan and Elizabeth Cooper claimed singles wins, before the doubles teams of Christi Murphy-Ashley Harrell and Brittany Horton-Cooper emerged at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

Sarah Beth Carraway, Dana Spivey, Ashley Grant, Cally Hudson, Grayson Daniell and Casey Perry claimed straight-set wins in singles for Greene Central. In doubles, Caraway-Spivey, Grant-Daniell and Hudson-Perry finished off the sweep.

Eastern Wayne's Lindsey Frederick won the most games for the Warriors, before falling 6-4, 6-4 in singles to Carraway.

The Warriors return to action today against Greenville River Birch.

Eastern Wayne's Deniz Alemdar had 11 kills, 14 digs and four aces as the Warriors dropped New Bern 26-24, 25-19, 18-25, 15-25, 15-10 on Wednesday at home.

Anna Wilkins added 10 kills, seven digs and one ace for Eastern Wayne (3-2), which topped the Bears in similar fashion on the road earlier this season. The Warriors' Carly Boyette notched six kills, four blocks and two aces.

Eastern Wayne travels to White Oak today.

Falcons soar

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock's Kandace Burroughs registered 10 kills in the Golden Falcons' 25-20, 25-22, 25-16 sweep of Clayton at home on Wednesday.

Shelly Lancaster added seven kills, while Rusti Talton provided six aces. Aycock coach Davis Harris also praised the effort of Christina Scarcella, who contributed a solid overall match with serving, setting and floor coverage

The Falcons (3-1) travel to face Princeton today.

Bulldogs suffer

CLINTON -- Princeton's Sarah Gibbs had seven kills and three blocks in the Bulldogs' five-game loss at Union on Wednesday.

Game scores were unavailable at press time.

Stephanie Daughtry contributed six kills and five digs for Princeton, while teammates Kristin Parker and Brittany Davis had eight and five aces, respectively.

The Bulldogs (2-1) host Charles B. Aycock today at home.
