K-Tribe wins Game 1

WINSTON-SALEM -- The Kinston Indians (35-35, 76-64) beat the Winston Salem Warthogs (38-33, 77-64) by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday night in Game 1 of a best-of-three Carolina League playoff series.

Indians starting pitcher Sean Smith (1-0) earned the win. Smith went 52/3 innings, giving up one run on four hits.

The Hogs took an early lead in the bottom of the second inning at 1-0. Leo Daigle singled to center field and scored on a Tom Collaro double to center field.

Kinston scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning to take the lead 2-1. Argenis Reyes walked and scored on a Brian Barton home run to center field.

The Indians scored one run in the top of the sixth inning to make the score 3-1. Kevin Kouzmanoff doubled to left and scored on a Stephen Head single to left field.

The Hogs will travel to Kinston to play Game 2 of the three game playoff series with the Indians tonight. First pitch is set for 7pm. On the mound for the Hogs will be LHP Ray Liotta (6-2, 1.45). On the hill for the Indians will be RHP Adam Miller (2-4, 2.83).
