Kinston doubles up 'Hogs

WINSTON-SALEM -- The Kinston Indians won for the fourth time in five games Tuesday night as the Tribe doubled up Winston-Salem 10-5.

Kinston Indians improved to 32-32 in the second half and 73-61 overall while the Warthogs slipped to 34-30 in the second half and 73-61 overall.

Kinston starting pitcher Nick Pesco (11-10) earned the win with 51/3 innings pitched. Pesco gave up three runs (two earned) on eighth hits for his 11 win of the season. Hogs starting pitcher Lance Broadway (1-2) suffered the loss. Broadway lasted only four innings giving up eight runs on eighth hits.

Kinston got on the board with four runs in the top of the second to make the score 4-0.

Ryan Goleski was hit by a pitch to start the inning and advanced to third on two groundouts. Brandon Pinckney walked to put runners on first and third. Micah Schilling doubled to left to score Goleski and Pinckney went to third. Brian Barton followed with a double to left scoring both Pinckney and Schilling.

Kevin Kouzmanoff had a broken bat single to score Barton for the final run of the inning.

The Hogs scored a run in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 4-1. Gustavo Molina singled to center field and advanced to third on a Robert Valido single to right field. Molina advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a Noah Hall sacrifice fly to right field.

Kinston took a commanding lead in the top of the fourth inning scoring four runs, making the score 8-1. The Indians scored all four runs with two outs in the inning.

The Indians scored a run in the top of the sixth inning to increase their lead to 9-1. Brian Barton doubled to right field to lead off the inning. With two outs, Mike Conroy doubled home Barton.

The Hogs scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 9-3. Noah Hall, Leo Daigle, and Tom Collaro singled in a row. Travis Hinton followed with a double to center. Collaro and Hinton had RBIs in the inning.

Winston-Salem scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to make the score 9-4. Ricardo Nanita walked and scored on a Leo Daigle double to left field.

Ryan Goleski hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to make the score 10-4.

Robert Valido and Leo Daigle had three hits for the Hogs.
