SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek's volleyball team jumped out to a 2-0 record after a sweep of Goldsboro at home on Wednesday.
The Gators topped the Cougars 25-15, 25-14, 25-14. No further information was provided on Wednesday's match.
On Tuesday, Tomeka Pride collected a team-leading five kills in Spring Creek's season-opening 23-25, 25-19, 25-12, 25-23 conquest of non-conference foe Hobbton.
Second-year Gators coach Deanna Morris said several players turned in solid serving performances. Brittani Billups tallied seven aces. Courtney Oxendine and Lorenda Brogden had two each.
Margo Sauter led in assists.
Spring Creek (2-0) hosts Hobbton on Aug. 30.
Rebels open
with win
ROSEBORO -- North Duplin's Sierra Ward collected 19 kills and served on 19 points, while providing nine digs, five aces and five blocks in the Rebels' thrilling, five-set win on Wednesday at Roseboro Lakewood.
North Duplin topped the Leopards 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 21-25, 15-13.
Heather Hudson added five digs, four kills and three aces as Brittany Carr served on 18 points and had 10 digs.
The Rebels host Hobbton today in non-confernece action.
Eagles suffer
home loss
Wayne Christian's Katie Daniels had two blocks, two kills and one dig in the Eagles' 12-25, 22-25, 3-25 loss at home to Northwood Temple on Tuesday.
Brooke Norris contributed two kills and one dig for Wayne Christian, which travels to Community Christian in Wilson on Friday.

NEWTON GROVE -- Tasha Whitfield and Jessica Lewis each recorded four kills in Spring Creek's 25-23, 26-24 season-opening, non-conference volleyball loss at Hobbton on Tuesday.
Jordan Carr and Ashley Barwick each served three aces.
Rebels top
Leopards on road
ROSEBORO -- North Duplin's Vanessa Lynch served on 16 points and dished out six assists in the Rebels' 25-22, 26-24 sweep of Lakewood on Wednesday.
Heather Hudson added five kills and three aces for North Duplin, while Erica Lane added three assists and two kills.
The Rebels host Hobbton today in non-conference action.
Eagles dealt loss
Northwood Temple handed Wayne Christian its first volleyball loss of the season 25-12, 25-12 on Tuesday in Class 1-A Carolina Christian Conference play.
The Eagles (2-1, 1-1 CCC) are the guest of Community Christian of Wilson on Friday. Match time is 4 p.m.
