CLAYTON -- Charles B. Aycock improved to 2-0 heading into today's match against Greene Central with a 9-0 win at Clayton on Wednesday.
Raychel Batts, Carlyn Claiborne, Nicole Taylor, Laine Purcell, Lizzie Sodoma and Emilee Quinn emerged with straight-set singles wins for the Golden Falcons. In doubles, the combinations of Batts-Purcell, Claiborne-Taylor and Sodoma-Quinn sealed the sweep.
The Comets fell to 0-2 on the year.
Aycock hosts Greene Central at 3:30 p.m. today.

ROCKY MOUNT -- On the heels of an 8-1 loss to East Chapel Hill, Greene Central bounced back with a 9-0 win at Rocky Mount on Wednesday.
Meredith Rouse, Christi Murphy, Ashley Harrell, Michelle Jernigan, Brittany Horton and Elizabeth Cooper claimed singles wins for the Rams, while the doubles teams of Rouse-Harrell, Murphy-Horton and Jernigan-Cooper won in doubles.
The match was the season-opener for the Gryphons (0-1).
Greene Central travels to Charles B. Aycock today at 3:30 p.m.

SNOW HILL -- In its season opener, Charles B. Aycock dispatched Greene Central 7-2 in non-conference action in Snow Hill on Wednesday.
Kristen Bennett, Kristen Prosser, Courtney Barnes, Mallory Strickland and Kara Kelly helped the Golden Falcons take six-of-seven singles contests. Greene Central got its lone singles win from Sarah Carraway at number one. In doubles, Aycock's No. 1 team of Perry-Prosser and No. 3 team of Barnes-Strickland emerged with wins. The Rams' No. 2 combination of Ashley Grant and Grayson Daniell claimed their teams' only victory in doubles.
Aycock (1-0) takes on North Lenoir today at the Greene Central Tennis Complex at 4 p.m.

LAGRANGE -- North Lenoir handed Charles B. Aycock a 4-1 defeat on Tuesday in non-conference action.
Garrett Davis, who also scored in the Golden Falcons' 5-2 loss at Clayton on Monday, posted Aycock's lone goal on Tuesday against the Hawks.
Jorg Delgado added one goal against Clayton.
The Falcons host Wayne Country Day on Aug. 31.
