FOUR OAKS -- Princeton led 7-0 after one quarter at South Johnston and trailed just 14-7 at halftime, but eventually fell 35-13 to the Trojans on Friday night in Four Oaks.

The Bulldogs (0-1) got on the board late in the first quarter when senior Johnny Phillips charged in from one-yard out. Colin Parker's extra-point made it 7-0 at the 2:37 mark. South Johnston then posted four unanswered touchdowns to take a 28-7 lead. Brandon Raynor scored twice in the third quarter, once on a 90-yard kick return, then again on a 27-yard strike from quarterback Scott Hockaday.

The Trojans (1-0) were led by Antonio Davis, who finished with 76 yards on nine carries with two touchdowns. Hockaday was 16-of-28 through the air with 168 yards and two touchdowns.

Princeton got its final score at the 5:11 mark of the fourth as junior quarterback Matthew Blackwell found fellow junior Daniel Gerrell for an 18-yard touchdown.

South Johnston answered less than two minutes later when Davis rumbled for 41 yards and a score to cap the scoring.

The Bulldogs got a solid, 156-yard effort on 28 carries from senior tailback Decarius Scarboro. Phillips added 23 yards on the ground. Blackwell passed for 27 yards on three-of-11 passing with two interceptions and a touchdown. Gerrell finished with three catches for 27 yards.

Princeton had two drives inside the 10 -- once in the first half and once after halftime -- but failed to come away with points on either possession.

The Bulldogs face North Moore at home on Friday.
