PITTSBURGH -- Southern Wayne and University of North Carolina graduate and current Pittsburgh Steeler, Greg Warren, participated in his first professional football game on Monday night.

In a nationally televised game on ESPN, Pittsburgh defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-31 at Heinz Field.

Warren (6-3, 252), a long-snapper, was picked up as a free agent shortly after completion of the NFL Draft in August. Warren and five-year veteran, Mike Schneck, are the only long-snappers on Pittsburgh's preseason roster. Schneck was also an undrafted free agent when he came into the league in 2000.

The Steelers, the defending AFC North champion, return to action on Saturday night as they host the Miami Dolphins. Pittsburgh rounds out its preseason schedule at Washington (Aug. 26), then at Carolina (Sept. 1).
