WILSON -- At Fleming Stadium on Monday night, Snow Hill American Legion Post 94 parlayed 13 hits and three Wilson errors into 14 runs to overpower Wilson Post 13.

The 14 runs enacted the 10 run-lead rule as Snow Hill defeated Wilson 14-4 in seven innings in Wilson's final Area I East Division regular-season game. Wilson falls to .500 at 10-10 in the division and enters the playoffs with a 13-10 overall record. Snow Hill improved to 13-9 overall and 10-9 in the division heading into its regular-season finale at home tonight against Beaufort County.

Snow Hill struck for six runs in two different innings -- the second and the seventh.

In the second, Snow Hill exploded with two outs against starting Post 13 pitcher Andrew Joyner. The second inning showcased five hits and two walks. Scoring in the inning were Tommy Cobb, Travis Rouse, Brad Bagley, Lance Murray, Jordan Scott and Hunter Chase.

The inning ended mercifully when John Conway tried to stretch a single into a double and the throw from Matt Robbins in right field was relayed by David Powell to David Bunn behind the plate, who made a throw down to Thomas

Edmondson at second .

Wilson, coming off back-to-back shutout wins during the weekend, cut the deficit to 6-4, plating a run in the second and three in the third off Snow Hill starting pitcher Richie Tanner.

In the second, Lee Hawkins doubled to right field and, one out later, scored on Bunn's hit.

In the third, Robbins, Edmondson and Tanner Eason reached base to load the bases for Powell, who laced a two-run double. Allen Corbett's grounder scored Eason.

Eason led Post 13 offensively, batting 3-for-4 with a run, while Powell went 2-for-4.

With a two-run lead, Post 94 sent Travis Rouse to the mound. Rouse blanked Wilson on three hits the last four innings. The Snow Hill reliever walked one and struck out one.

Post 13 stranded 10 base-runners as compared to three for Snow Hill.

Snow Hill added two runs in the sixth off Joyner, four runs in the seventh off reliever Jonathan Davis, and its final two runs in the seventh off reliever John Webb. Snow Hill was aided by three Wilson errors in the inning.

Five Snow Hill batters collected multiple hits, including Murray, who batted 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and a pair of doubles. Scott, Conway, Rouse and Bagley each rapped two hits.

Aycock rallies

past Conley

PIKEVILLE -- Aycock's Cameron Boswell provided a two-run, pinch-hit single with no outs in the top of the eighth as Aycock defeated D.H. Conley 5-4 in extra innings on Sunday.

Trailing 4-3, Zach Wright and Will Edgerton provided one single each, then moved up on an error and a stolen base, respectively, before scoring on Boswell's hit.

The win improved Aycock (10-8 overall) to 5-5 in division play heading into a road contest today at Snow Hill at 6 p.m. Aycock, still in contention for one of four postseason berths from the division, concludes the regular season Thursday at Smithfield-Selma.

Joseph Toler and Thomas Pilkington had two hits and one RBI each, while Bradley Taylor added two hits and scored once. Jay Rose posted one RBI and Will Spence scored once.

Daniel Stancil started on the mound -- yielding one run in the first and two in the second, before blanking the visitors the next five innings. David Rose gave up one run in the top of the eighth and picked up the win in relief.

Post 11 suffers

home loss

DUDLEY -- Wayne County's Taylor Sutton had two hits, including a home run, and two RBI in Post 11's 13-8 loss at home on Saturday to Lenoir County.

The loss drops Wayne County (6-8 overall) to 4-6 in the division. Lenoir County continues to lead the division with the top four teams advancing to the postseason.

Willie Koernig added two hits and two RBI for Post 11, while Nolan Lancaster drove in two and Walker Gourley scored twice. Timothy Rogers started and endured the loss for Wayne County -- yielding four earned runs on five hits in two innings of work.

Post 11's John Wooten, Taylor Allen and Anthony Brogden worked in relief.

Lenoir County's Brandon Sutton went five innings to pick up the win, while Stihl Sowers, Andrew Manning, John Alphin and Taylor Ginn paced the offense.

Post 11 travels to Lenoir County today in a 7 p.m. game at North Lenoir High School, then concludes the regular season on Wednesday at home against D.H. Conley.
