HAMLET -- Hamlet pushed three runs across in the fifth inning and claimed a 5-0 decision against Wayne County Post 11 in the inaugural George Whitfield Invitational at Hamlet Memorial Park.

The loss snapped Post 11's seven-game win streak.

Hamlet tallied an unearned run in each of the first and third innings before chasing Wayne County right-hander T.J. Hinson from the mound in the fifth. Hinson yielded a two-strike single and then back-to-back infield bunt singles to load the bases.

Neal Robinette rapped a two-strike double and Hamlet also scored on a passed ball to take a five-run lead.

Hinson tossed 4 2/3 innings and Michael Sigmon finished out the game.

Post 11 managed three hits -- a Jes Snyder triple and infield singles from Austin Hood and Jackson Massey.

Weather permitting, Wayne County (14-3) faces Duplin County at 1 p.m. today. Duplin opened tournament play with a 7-3 loss against Hamlet.
