Junior Legion -- Aycock drops pair of games

PIKEVILLE -- Pitt County West rallied for seven runs in the final two innings and dealt Aycock an 11-5 loss in Junior American Legion action at Charles B. Aycock on Thursday evening.

Aycock erased an early 2-1 deficit with a four-run third inning. Thomas Pilkington provided an RBI triple and Joseph Toler slapped a two-run home run. Jay Rose accounted for the final run on a combination of wild pitches and ground-ball outs.

Pilkington suffered the pitching loss in relief of starter Bryant Hill, who worked five innings. Toler threw the seventh.

Will Spence paced Aycock's offense with two hits and scored a run. Bradley Taylor doubled in four plate appearances.

Despite turning a fourth-inning triple play, Aycock lost a 7-6 heartbreaker to Pitt County East on Wednesday evening.

Taylor and Will Edgerton emerged Aycock's offensive leaders with three hits each. Taylor drove in three runs, while Edgerton had one RBI. Jay Rose batted 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The teams were tied at 6-6 after 4 1/2 innings.

Mike Taylor delivered the game-winning RBI for PC East in the fifth. Taylor also belted a two-run home run in the third inning.

David Rose endured the mound loss for Aycock.

Aycock is the guest of Wilson Post 13 at noon Saturday at historic Fleming Stadium.
