PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock's Adam Williams struck out eight batters against two walks in four innings of work in his final outing as a Golden Falcon -- helping Aycock to an 11-3 win at home against Washington.

The game was the season finale for both, Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference teams.

Williams, one of seven CBA seniors, yielded one hit and no runs.

"He threw extremely well last night, and I was so glad to see that," Aycock coach Charles Davis said. "This senior group this year has been a joy to coach. They didn't play a whole lot, but didn't whine and complain. They sat in the dugout and pulled for the young players.

"Their leadership is going to be missed."

Seniors Travis Bartlett (3-5), Drew McGowan (2-4), Greg Tipton (2-4), Alex Raper (1-3) and Greg Davis (1-5) paced the Falcons at the plate.

Raper came on to toss the final three innings, yielding four hits and three runs. He and Williams combined for 15 strikeouts.

The Golden Falcons (16-8 overall) finished at 11-5 in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference.

CBA finishes

unbeaten in ECC

WASHINGTON -- Charles B. Aycock's Brandon Price finished 2-4 with two RBI and picked up the win in relief as the Golden Falcons finished off an unbeaten conference season with a 7-4 win at Washington on Thursday.

Aycock (20-1 overall) finished its slate at 12-0 in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference.

Jay Rose had two hits, including a home run, while Nick Weaver added a double.

with road victory

VANCEBORO -- Southern Wayne's Byron Powell had a home run and three RBI to help lead the Saints to a 6-4 win at West Craven on Thursday.

Southern Wayne concluded the season at 9-12 overall.

Doogie Niemond added two hits and an RBI for the Saints, while Chris Massey posted two singles.

Byron Powell got the win in 6 1/3 innings of work for Southern Wayne, while Cameron Wiggins picked up the save. Saint catcher Ricky Oddon cut down two runners trying to steal.

ECC 3-A crown

PIKEVILLE -- Emily Jordan and Brittany King combined for a no-hitter as C.B. Aycock dumped Washington 7-0 in Eastern Carolina Conference 3-A action Thursday afternoon.

The Golden Falcons completed their second straight unbeaten season, this time finishing 14-0 including an 8-0 league worksheet. They fashioned a 15-0 record last year.

Jordan struck out six and walked two in a six-inning stint. King threw a perfect seventh with one strikeout.

King emerged Aycock's offensive leader with three hits, including a triple, in three at-bats. Leigh Smith batted 2-for-4. Kylie Justo doubled in her only official plate appearance, but also drew three walks.

Stevie Savage contributed one hit.

Dixie Youth Majors

Wayne Country Day 10, Boys Club Mustangs 1 -- Russell Turner emerged the winning pitcher, striking out 10 batters. Cody Neal, Hil Tanner, Cole Davis and Catherine Ford paced Wayne Country Day's offense. WCDS (5-2) plays against Spring Creek at noon Saturday, and entertains Wayne Christian next Tuesday at 6 p.m.
