Frazer's four goals lift E. Wayne

KINSTON -- Eastern Wayne's Samantha Frazer scored four goals, boosting her team-leading goal total to 13, as the Warriors blanked Kinston 6-0 on Monday.

The win improves Eastern Wayne (7-4 overall) to 6-1 in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference. The Vikings (1-11) fell to 1-6 in league play.

All four of Frazer's goals came in the first half. Kasie Edwards added a goal before intermission, while Deniz Alemdar posted a goal in the second half.

Jennifer Bircher dished out two assists as Crystal Lemmon and Edwards contributed one assist each.

The Warriors outshot Kinston 21-1

Morgan Pritchett had one save in goal for the Warriors, while Kinston's Abby Irvin saved 10 shots.

Eastern Wayne hosts Washington Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Senior Night.

Behrend posts

hat trick for RHS

TARBORO -- Rosewood's Stephanie Behrend tallied a hat trick (three goals) and dished out one assist in the Eagles' 4-0 win at Tarboro on Monday.

The win improves Rosewood to 3-3-1 overall heading into today's game at North Johnston at 7 p.m.

Erin Thibodeau got the Eagles on the board -- scoring her team's lone first-half goal, before Behrend's scoring barrage after intermission.

Rosewood goalie Molly Grantham had eight saves in the shutout.

Panthers continue

C/EPC streak

SEVEN SPRINGS -- North Johnston held a Class 1-A Carolina/2-A Eastern Plains Conference team scoreless for the fourth straight game as the Panthers defeated Spring Creek 7-0 on Monday.

Jenna Gudac turned in her second hat trick (three goals) in as many games and now has 23 goals on the season. Haley Newsome added two goals for the Panthers, while Caroline Hines and Sydney Levick posted one goal each.

Heather Creech had two assists as Shannon Barnes and Taylor Allen dished out one assist apiece.

North Johnston (9-1-1, 4-0 C/EPC) hosts Rosewood today. Spring Creek (0-5-1, 0-3-1) travels to Rosewood on Wednesday.

Hawks blank

SW Edgecombe

PINETOPS -- North Lenoir's Haley Bright and Gabrielle Hill had two goals and one assist each in the Hawks' 7-0 win at SouthWest Edgecombe on Monday.

Katie Maloney added a goal and an assist for the Hawks, while Erin Hill and Lindsay Walton posted one goal each. Brittany Forrest dished out one assist.

Febe Barraza, Ra'Nelle Dudley and Bright combined for North Lenoir's seventh shutout of the season as the Hawks have allowed just six goals on the year.

North Lenoir (9-2, 3-1 Class 1-A Carolina/2-A Eastern Plains Conference) travels to Tarboro on Wednesday.

HENDERSON -- Wayne Country Day's Christin Grubb scored both of her team's goals as the Chargers won 2-1 at Kerr-Vance on Friday.

Sarah Coleman and Mimi Bridgers contributed one assist each for WCDS (3-1-3, 2-2 Coastal Plains Independent Conference).

Ellen Elmore had seven saves in goal for the Chargers, who return to action today at home against Ridegcroft.

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock's Rachel Coggins tallied two goals in the Golden Falcons' 5-0 win over Kinston on Friday.

Aycock scored four of its five goals in the first give minutes with Coggins, Anem Waheed and Amanda Schlaeppi notching goals. Schlaeppi added two assists, while Waheed dished out one.

The Falcons host Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference leader West Carteret on Wednesday.

edge Panthers

KENLY -- Charles B. Aycock senior right-hander Jenny Jackson allowed just two hits in seven innings of work to help the Golden Falcons claim a 1-0 win at North Johnston on Monday.

Jackson, who added a double at the plate, struck out five, walked none and didn't allow a single runner to reach second. Jackson benefited from an errorless defensive performance behind her.

Panther senior righty Candace Evans turned in a 10-strikeout, two hit performance of her own in picking up a tough loss.

The Golden Falcons got their lone run in the top of the seventh as Rusti Talton knocked in pinch-runner Lindsey Lowe with a double to center field. Lowe was running for Chrissy Setliff, who started the inning with a walk.

Robyn Creech had both hits for the Panthers, who host North Duplin on Wednesday.

Aycock (10-3) hosts Greene Central Wednesday at 7 p.m.

at Kinston

KINSTON -- Southern Wayne's Scarlett Joyner had three hits in four plate appearances in the Saints' 4-3 loss to Kinston.

The Vikings rallied for one run in the bottom of the seventh to claim the close win. The loss drops the Saints (7-5 overall) to 4-4 in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference.

Alyssa Bradshaw had two hits and two RBI for Southern Wayne, which outhit Kinston 7-4. Danielle Bryant and Ashley Singleton paced Kinston at the plate.

Karen Thornton went the distance for the Saints on the mound, striking out six with three walks. Thornton yielded five hits with only one of her four runs allowed being earned.

Kinston's Traci Davis struck out 10 and got the win in seven innings of work.

Conquerors post

home win

Faith Christian's T.J. Sasser scored Steven Sloan with the game-winning hit in the Conquerors' 5-4 win at home over Raleigh Christian on Monday.

Sasser, Josh Brannan and Justin Brown had two hits each for Faith, while Brannan picked up the win on the mound in relief.

Conqueror starter Alan Darby struck out seven in four innings

Faith travels to Trinity of Greenville today.

ROCKY MOUNT -- Wayne Country Day's Spenser Briggs had three hits, including a home run, and drove in two as the Chargers suffered an 8-6 loss at Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Monday.

The loss drops WCDS (3-10 overall) to 1-6 in the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference heading into today's game at home against Greenfield. Faith-RM (10-3 overall) improved to 3-3 in the CPIC.

Trent Langston added two hits and a home run for WCDS, while Kevin Logan drove in two and doubled.

Ryan Ford got the loss in 4 2/3 innings with only two of his eight runs allowed being earned. Ford walked four and hit two batters with five of those six runners scoring.

SMITHFIELD -- North Johnston's Brad Holloman and Josh Phillips had two hits each in the Panthers 10-1 loss at Smithfield-Selma on Monday.

The loss drops North Johnston to 3-10 overall heading into a home contest on Wednesday with North Duplin.

Ashley Moore got the loss in four innings of work for the Panthers -- yielding three hits and four runs.

Carolina match

DUDLEY -- Ayden-Grifton's Adam Andrews turned in medalist honors with a 35 to help lead the Chargers to a win in a Class 1-A Carolina Conference match at Southern Wayne Country Club on Monday.

North Johnston finished second at 155, while Princeton took third with 158. Spring Creek (166) and Rosewood (168) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Farmville Central (172) and North Duplin (185) rounded out the team scoring.

Pat Wilkens led Spring Creek with a 37 as teammates Jami Crampton and Stephen Warren each shot 40. Matt Nunn added a 49 for the Gators.

Shane Ogburn paced the Eagles with 36, while Trevor Worrell (42), Brad Hill (43) and Joey Wagner (47) also participated.

The next scheduled Carolina Conference match is Monday and will be hosted by North Johnston.

WCS claims

easy win

Wayne Christian's Jonathan Greene and Chad Smith each shot 38 to tie for medalist honors on Monday as the Eagles defeated Community Christian 156-230 at Walnut Creek.

Clark Rose (39), Matt Davis (41), Andrew Radford (45) and Eric Williams (49) also participated for Wayne Christian (9-3 overall), which improved to 7-0 in the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference.

The Eagles return to action at Village Christian today.

Hawks emerge

at Falling Creek

KINSTON -- North Lenoir finished at 306 to win a Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference match on Monday at Falling Creek Country Club in Kinston.

SouthWest Edgecombe took second at 310, while Greene Central claimed third with 318. South Lenoir (351), Tarboro (366) and North Pitt (399) rounded out the team scoring.

Josh Elmore shot a 76 to lead the Rams as Brandon Jones (77), Colby Murphy (79) and Blake Sutton (79) also participated.

CBA to win

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock's Emily Jordan struck out 10 and yielded just one run in the Golden Falcons 2-1 win at home over North Johnston on Monday.

Jordan went the distance, allowing only four hits and one walk with two hit batters. She also helped her cause with a double at the plate.

Stevie Savage added two hits, including a triple, for the Falcons, who host Southern Wayne on Thursday at 5 p.m.

SW Edgecombe

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central pounded out 14 hits, including six doubles, in a 13-3 conquering of Eastern Plains 2-A Conference foe SouthWest Edgecombe on Friday afternoon.

Robert Tyndall (4-1) emerged the winning pitcher and doubled once in a 2-for-4 effort on the James R. Fulghum Athletic Complex diamond. Michael Speedy, Billy Teston and Curtis Braswell each batted 2-for-4 with a double.

William Brown doubled in a 2-for-2 performance. Chris Leggett added two hits in three plate appearances.

Timothy Riggs led SouthWest with two hits.

Greene Central (6-6, 2-1 EPC) entertains Tarboro next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Saints shutout

Kinston

DUDLEY -- Southern Wayne pushed nine runs across in the bottom of the first inning and rode the momentum to a 18-0 victory against Kinston in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play.

Officials halted the contest after 4 1/2 innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Ricky Oddon doubled and singled for the Saints. Teammates Doogie Niemond, Matt Holmes, Sammy Dewitt, Jeremy Davis, Chris Capps and Alex Aldridge also provided hits.

Byron Powell emerged the winning pitcher, striking out eight in four innings. Cameron Wiggins threw one inning of no-hit relief.

Kinston collected two hits.

Middle schools

Norwayne baseball 15, Brogden 3 -- Greg Champion had three hits, while Josh Martin and Will Edgerton had two hits each. Edgerton picked up the win on the mound for the Cobras (8-1, 4-0).

Norwayne baseball 16, Brogden 2 -- Will Edgerton and Jordan Quinn had two hits each. Quinn was the winning pitcher in the completion of a suspended game.

Spring Creek baseball 16, Goldsboro 2 -- Steven Best and Joey Combs had two hits each for Spring Creek (4-4, 2-2), while Lucas Potter got the win on the mound.

Spring Creek softball 23, Goldsboro 5 -- Kristen Beasley and Amy Parker had three hits each for the Gators (5-3, 2-2). Elizabeth Wilkens and Savannah Egleston added two hits, while Casey Coor got the win on the mound in four innings of work.
