Moulton HR lifts North Lenoir in 9th

DEEP RUN -- North Lenoir's Randi Moulton slugged a home run in the top of the ninth as the Hawks escaped South Lenoir with a 1-0 win to remain unbeaten.

Chanae Lynch finished 2-4 for the Hawks, now 10-0 overall and winners of 31 consecutive Eastern Plains 2-A Conference regular-season games.

North Lenoir senior Morgan Worthington struck out 12 and walked just one during the four-hit shutout.

The Hawks return to action on Tuesday at home against Greene Central.

Village beats WCA

In a rematch from last years championship game in the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference, Village Christian came back to defeat Wayne Christian 3-2.

With two outs in the fourth, Wayne Christian (1-4, 1-2 CCC) gave up three runs on an error by the short stop, an overthrow by the pitcher and a home run by Village.

Emily Reesman posted an RBI for the Eagles, while Ashley Clark walked for Wayne Christian's second run.

Brittany Sullivan got the loss for the Eagles, yielding four hits and four walks with seven strikeouts.

Wayne Christian will host Cape Fear on Tuesday.

Rams defeated

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central's Casey Morris had three hits and an RBI in the Rams' 3-2 loss to North Pitt in eight innings on Friday.

The Rams out-hit the Panthers 10-4.

Cassie Webb went the distance for Greene Central, striking out eight with two walks. Stacy Wade and Amber Oakes had two hits each for the Rams, now 2-5 overall.

Tiffany Shaw got the win for North Pitt and added an RBI to help her cause.

It was the Eastern Plains 2-A opener for both teams.

Rebels suffer loss

CALYPSO -- Farmville Central improved to 3-1 in the Carolina 1-A Conference with a 13-7 win at North Duplin on Friday.

Jessica Joyner had five hits for the Jaguars, while Brooke Modlin picked up the win on the mound.

No further information was provided on Friday's game.

North Duplin (6-3, 2-3 CC) hosts Rosewood next Tuesday.
