Limestone completes CVAC sweep of Trojans

MOUNT OLIVE -- Matt Craig went 5-for-5 with two home runs and six runs batted in and Mitch House scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth to lead Limestone to an 11-9 victory over Mount Olive in NCAA Divisioin II Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference play Sunday afternoon at Scarborough Field.
Mount Olive (11-13, 4-5 CVAC) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Jonathan Skelley and a sacrifice fly by Matt Rickard.
Limestone (13-9, 7-2) took its first lead in the top of the third on Craig's three-run homer down the left field line.
Nordan's two-run single in the bottom of the third put the Trojans back on top, but Limestone answered with two runs in the top of the fourth as Craig's RBI single gave the Saints a 5-4 lead.
Limestone added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings before Josh Carter's three-run homer highlighted a five-run seventh inning as the Trojans regained the lead 7-5, the fourth lead change of the game.
The Saints put runners on first and second to open the top of the eighth inning, but the Trojans converted a 6-4-3 double play. A wild pitch pulled Limestone within a run and Craig tied the game with a home run to left field -- his second home run and fifth hit of the game.
Mount Olive is off until Wednesday when the Trojans play host to Francis Marion to begin a two-game non-conference series. Game time is 3 p.m.
