RHS men, Jaguar women win Carolina indoor track titles

Rosewood's men and Farmville Central's women seized the Class 1-A Carolina Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, respectively, contested Wednesday afternoon at Rosewood.

James Reusch emerged a triple winner as the Eagle men collected 117 points, compared to runner-up Farmville Central with 82. Reusch won the 55 hurdles (8.65 seconds), 300 meters (39.98) and high jump (5 feet, 8 inches).

Jeremy Reusch captured the triple jump with a mark of 37-9. Teammates Anthony Gibson and Bradley Mullins prevailed in the 55 meters and 500 meters, respectively.

Gibson, Mullins, Jeremy Reusch and Markas Daniels comprised the winning 1,600-meter relay squad.

Jason Buchtmann recorded second-place finishes in the 55 meters and triple jump, leading Spring Creek to a third-place total of 49 points. North Johnston ended up fourth with 30 points, while Princeton collected nine in the five-team meet.

The Panthers' Jonathon Arthur dominated the pole vault with a first-place mark of 12 feet. Mullins was the next-closest at nine feet.

Rosewood's Sa'coya Cox prevailed in the shot put (30-11) and finished second overall in the 55 meters and 300 meters during the women's portion of the meet. The Eagles earned 45 points, well behind the Jaguars' title-clinching total 97.

North Johnston's Heather Creech won the 1,000- and 1,600-meter events. She collected 18 of the Panthers' 24 points.

Janet Potter, of Spring Creek, captured the 3,200-meter run with a time of 14:33. The Gators trailed Rosewood by two points in the final team standings.

Princeton was fourth overall with 31 points.
