Eastern Wayne women remain unbeaten in pool

Eastern Wayne's women's swim team remained undefeated with a first-place finish in a four-team meet at the Goldsboro YMCA on Tuesday.

The Warriors took first in nine events out of 11 on the day. Ashley Robinson claimed the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle and was a part of two winning relay teams. Hina New won the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke and also took part in two successful relays.

Rachael Stoneburner (200 freestyle) and Denise Moulas (100 breaststroke) also claimed individual wins for the Warriors.

Charles B. Aycock's Garrett Forest led her team to a second-place finish with victories in the 50 and 100 freestyle events.

Eastern Wayne finished with 100 team points, while Aycock (53) and Kinston (36) took second and third, respectively. Southern Wayne (22) took fourth.

Charles B. Aycock's men's team got two first place efforts from Kalvin LeRoy in the 500 freestyle and 200 freestyle as the Falcons claimed the men's meet with 66 points.

Southern Wayne finished second (57) and Kinston (46) and Eastern Wayne (15) rounded out the team scoring.

The Saints won all three relay's contested, while Fitch Carrere claimed the 100 butterfly. Eastern Wayne's Rob Cagle took the 100 freestyle and 50 freestyle.

The Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference championships are slated for Saturday at the Goldsboro YMCA.
