MOC men/women among NCAA stat leaders

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive men's basketball is ranked in the top three in the nation in scoring offense, scoring margin and field goal percentage; while Mount Olive women's basketball continues to be ranked in the top 10 in rebound margin in this week's NCAA Division II men's and women's basketball statistics reports.
The Mount Olive men (9-2) rank third nationally in scoring offense with an average of 94.9 points per game. The Trojans have the second-highest field goal percentage in the nation for the second consecutive week at 54.1 percent. Mount Olive also ranks third in the nation with a scoring margin of 23.0 points per game and 19th with a rebound margin of 8.5 boards per game.
Individually, sophomore guard Elton Coffield jumped 11 spots to No. 9 in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage at 50.9 percent (29-for-57). Junior guard Maurice Horton (Hampton, Va./Phoebus HS) continues to rank No. 33 in the nation in steals per game with a 2.6 average.
Mount Olive's 71.6 field goal percentage against Concord on December 1 remains the highest single-game field goal percentage in Division II so far this season.
The Trojan women (6-4) rank 10th in the nation in rebound margin, outrebounding opponents by an average of 10.1 boards per game. The Trojans also rank 21st in the nation in scoring defense, limiting opponents to an average of 55.2 points per contest.
The statistics do not include Mount Olive's men's and women's basketball games against either Pfeiffer or Coker.
