Sladek, Faith Christian conquer Trinity-Greenville

Eric Sladek pumped in a game-high 21 points, leading Faith Christian past Trinity Christian of Greenville 56-49 in a N.C. Christian Schools Association Coastal Region contest Friday evening.

Stephen Sloan added 18 for the Conquerors, who improved to 9-1 overall.

Brennan added 10 points, while Sladek and Sloan combined to shot 13 of 19 at the free throw line.

Faith Christian will take nearly two weeks off to enjoy the holiday break before entertaining Fellowship Christian on Jan. 6.

Falcons grab double OT thriller

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock's Santavin Poole scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Falcons outlasted West Carteret 84-82 in double overtime on Friday at home.

Aycock's Rob Phillips, who added 14 points, nailed two-of-two at the free-throw line with four seconds left, before a last-second, three-point attempt by the Patriots fell short.

With the win, the Falcons (4-6) improved to 2-4 in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference.

Montrel Sims chipped in 13 points for Aycock, while Michael Gurganus had nine points, six assists and four steals.

Greg Davis and Erik Langston gave Falcon coach David West a big lift off the bench.

"We had five that couldn't play in the first half for breaking team policy, and Greg Davis and Erik Langston came in and played the four and five in the post," West said.

Aycock hosts Rosewood on Dec. 29 in the Falcon Holiday Invitational.

Rebels pick up non-league win

ROSEBORO -- Montreal Garner and Doug Lloyd led five North Duplin players in double figures with 11 points apiece in a 57-47, non-conference victory Friday evening at Lakewood.

Brad Lloyd, Charlton Armwood and Matt Braswell each chipped in 10 points for the Rebels. Brad and Doug combined for three 3-pointers, while Sterling Grice hit one.

Marion Haley led the Leopards, of the Class 1-A Super Six Conference, with nine points. Joe Warren and Gerald Council contributed seven points each.

North Duplin (3-3) returns to action at home Jan. 5 against Carolina Conference rival Princeton. The junior varsity boys' game tips off at 4:30 p.m.

Princeton avenges early loss

PRINCETON -- Princeton's Karter Yutzy scored 23 points and pulled down 15 rebounds as the Bulldogs avenged an early-season loss to Louisburg with a 51-40 win over the Warriors on Friday at home.

Earlier this season, the Warriors defeated the Bulldogs 51-34 as Bobby Massenburg scored 23 points. Massenburg was limited to just two points on Friday.

"We ran a diamond-and-one on him (Massenburg) and Josh Thompson did a really good job on him," Princeton coach Jeff Davis said.

Brandon Pate added 12 points for the 'Dogs, while Yutzy went 13-13 from the free-throw line.

Princeton (6-3) plays in the Roanoke High School Christmas Tournament on Dec. 28-29 in Robersonville.

Cougars drop Eastern Wayne

Goldsboro's Antonio Greene scored 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the Cougars 62-50 win at home over Eastern Wayne on Friday -- snapping the Warriors' five-game winning streak.

Anthony Artis added 15 points and eight rebounds for Goldsboro, while Q.T. Battle added 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Goldsboro (6-3) begins play on Monday in a three-day, eight-team, junior varsity tournament in Jacksonville. The Cougars face Jacksonville Northside at 5:30 p.m.

The Cougars are 4-2 in the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference.

Golden Falcons collect ECC win

PIKEVILLE -- Brandon Price tallied a team-high 17 points as C.B. Aycock slipped past West Carteret 44-40 in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play Friday.

Brandon Haynes added nine points.

The Golden Falcons (4-4, 3-2 ECC) return to action Jan. 4 at South Central.

Conquerors defeat Trinity

Stephen Marshall knocked down 12 points in Faith Christian's 40-28 conquest of Trinity Christian-Greenville in a N.C. Christian Schools Association Coastal Region contest Friday.

The Conquerors (2-3, 1-1) play host to Calvary Christian on Jan. 4.

Goldsboro takesout Warriors

Goldsboro remained unbeaten with a 77-54 win at Eastern Wayne on Friday.

A.J. Holloway led the Cougars with 22 points, while T.J. Kornegay chipped in 16 points. A.J. Fowler contributed 10 points for Goldsboro (6-0, 2-0 Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference)

Goldsboro plays Kinston on Jan. 4.
