CLINTON -- Spring Creek's Josh Bishop scored a game-high 32 points, shooting eight-of-12 from three-point range as the Gators dropped Union 67-65 on Wednesday.

Cliff Wilson added 14 points, including four three's, while Chris Wright scored 10 and dished out nine assists. Mychael King provided a solid game down in the post with 10 points and nine rebounds.

For the game, the Gators (5-1) shot a whopping, 31 three-pointers and made 14.

"It was a game of surges and we surged last," Spring Creek coach Sonny Kilpatrick said.

Rodleck Beatty led Union (1-2) with 21 points.

Spring Creek hosts Union on Monday.

Princeton battles

in road loss

LITTLEFIELD -- Princeton's Karter Yutzy scored a game-high 20 points as the Bulldogs suffered a 66-46 loss at Ayden-Grifton on Wednesday in a Class 1-A Carolina Conference game.

Brandon Pate added 11 points for the Bulldogs (3-3 overall), who fell to 0-2 against conference foes.

Nursing a handful of injuries, Princeton kept the game close and trailed just 30-25 midway through the third quarter.

"We just ran out of gas," Princeton coach Jeff Davis said.

Ayden-Grifton (1-5, 1-0 Carolina) was led by Robbie Phillip with 16 points.

Princeton hosts Union on Friday in non-conference play, while the Chargers travel to Rosewood.

CLINTON -- Spring Creek's Brittani Billups emerged as the lone, double-digit scorer with 10 points in a 50-31 loss at Union on Wednesday in a non-conference game.

The loss drops the Gators to 0-5 overall as they failed to score in the first quarter and shot just four-of-17 from the free-throw line on the game.

"We played with Union the other three quarters, but when you are down by 17 all we were doing is playing catch-up," she said.

Spring Creek returns to action on Monday at home against Union.

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek's David Harris scored 23 points as the Gators defeated North Duplin 58-49 in two overtimes on Tuesday.

Kevin Winn added 16 points for Spring Creek.

North Duplin's Chris Graham posted 18 points, while teammate Terrell Medgette provided 16.

ROCKY MOUNT -- Goldsboro's A.J. Holloway scored 18 points as the Cougars handed Rocky Mount a 72-48 win at the Gryphons' gymnasium on Tuesday.

T.J. Kornegay scored 17 points, while A.J. Fowler added 12 points for the Cougars.

Goldsboro hosts Jacksonville on Friday.
