Southern Wayne's boys swim team captured their first-ever meet in school history on Tuesday at the Goldsboro Family YMCA with a team score of 68.

The Saints scored in all 11 events in claiming the win. South Central's boys took second with 58, while C.B. Aycock (47) and Kinston (17) rounded out the team scoring.

Southern Wayne's boys finished first in the 400 freestyle relay, while John Barefoot took first in the 50 freestyle and Fitch Carrere claimed first in the 200 individual medley. Aycock's Kalvin LeRoy (500 freestyle) and Garrett Smith (100 butterfly) also finished first in their respective events.

In the girls meet, Eastern Wayne won with a team score of 74, while South Central (70) and Aycock (32) took second and third, respectively. Kinston (24) and Southern Wayne (20) also competed in the meet.

Eastern Wayne's Ashley Robinson took first in two events -- 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, while Hina New won the 100 backstroke. The Warriors also claimed the 200 medley relay. Aycock's lone first-place finish came in the 200 freestyle relay.

The Saint boys and girls combined to set six school records in the meet.
