Rosewood's Danny Langston scored 14 points as the Eagles emerged with a 56-47 win in their season opener at home against Midway.

Antell Richards added 12 points for Rosewood, which jumped out to a 23-12 lead after the first quarter.

Dennis Williams paced Midway with 11 points, while teammate Josh Crumpler chipped in 10 points.

Rosewood travels to face Midway on Thursday.

Faith improved to 5-0 on the season heading into the Faith Invitational Tournament this weekend.

T.J. Sasser scored 12 points, while Erin Sladik contributed 11 points and Josh Brannan added 10 points. Mike Fortner scored 15 to lead Liberty.

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central's Teddie Waters recorded 22 points as the Rams edged Ayden-Grifton 54-53 in Snow Hill on Tuesday.

The win improved Greene Central to 5-0 on the season.

Jonathan Gage added 11 points for the Rams, who travel to Farmville Central on Friday.

Ayden-Grifton's Robbie Phillips led the Chargers with 21 points.

Trinity (5-0) was led by Joey Rieg, who scored 16 points.

Dixon at home

North Duplin's Matt Braswell scored 23 points, including three, 3-pointers, as the Rebels toppled Holly Ridge Dixon 64-38 on Tuesday at home.

The Rebels (1-0) also got 14 points from Montreal Garner and eight points from Charlton Armwood.

Jordan Davis paced Dixon with 12 points.

Haynes boosts

CBA against rival

Charles B. Aycock's Brandon Haynes posted a game-high 32 points in the Falcons' 66-60 win at Goldsboro on Tuesday.

It was the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference opener for both teams.

Dontay Taylor added 14 points for Aycock (2-2, 1-0 ECC). Anthony Artis paced Goldsboro with 19 points. Michael Isler provided 14 points for the Cougars, while Treme Boone dropped in 12.

The Falcons host Wilson Beddingfield today, while Goldsboro entertains West Craven on Friday.

Eagles claim

Rosewood's Clarence Toran led his team with 10 points to help propel the Eagles to a 44-31 victory at home over Midway in their season opener.

Stephen McIntyre added eight points for the Eagles (1-0), who travel to face Midway on Thursday.

CALYPSO -- North Duplin's Chris Graham scored 13 points in the Rebels' 47-38 win at home over Holly Ridge Dixon on Tuesday.

Trrell Midgette added 10 points for North Duplin, who travels to Hobbton on Friday.

9th grade

Cougars smash

C.B. Aycock

Goldsboro's T.J. Kornegay scored 16 points, while teammate A.J. Flowers added 15 points in a 63-30 win at Charles B. Aycock on Tuesday.

It was the first game of the season for the Cougars' ninth-grade team.

Goldsboro (1-0) travels to Rocky Mount on Dec. 7.

Norwayne boys 37, Greenwood 23 -- Tyheim Pitt led Norwayne's scoring, while Brendan Barnett had eight points for Greenwood. Norwayne (3-0, 1-0) hosts Mount Olive Thursday.

Goldsboro boys 45, Brogden 16 -- Goldsboro's Javaris Simmons scored 19 points to lead his team. Goldsboro (3-0) hosts Dillard next on Thursday at Goldsboro High.
