KILL DEVIL HILLS -- Senior middle hitter Randi Moulton collected 15 kills as North Lenoir swept First Flight 25-19, 25-22, 25-23 in second-round play in the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 2-A volleyball playoffs Thursday evening.
The Hawks (24-1) entertain either Northern Vance or Cedar Ridge in the eastern semfinals on Saturday. Neither the opponent nor match time had been determined this morning.
"All three games were back and forth," North Lenoir coach Heather Humphrey said. "In the last game, it was point for point and we missed two serves to let them tie it at 23-23.
"We ended up coming back to get those last two points."
Sophomore outside hitter Brittany Sanders provided 10 kills, while middle hitter Shannon Plymouth added eight. Leslie Oliver contributed seven kills.
Rachel Cromer recorded four blocks and senior setter Chanee Lynch contributed three blocks. Lynch dished out 41 assists in the three-set victory -- the Hawks' second of the postseason.
"They played real good deensively (but) we played good defensively, too," Humphrey said. "The girls played well on the front line and back line."
North Lenoir claimed its 13th consecutive victory since a five-set loss to traditional 4-A power J.H. Rose in mid-September.
