Demetrio Barrera opened the scoring in the first minute and Moises Baltazar tallied his first-ever varsity goal three minutes later. Barrera collected the hat trick with goals in the 10th and 26th minute, and added a fourth in the 31st minute.

West Carteret

pounds C.B. Aycock

PIKEVILLE -- West Carteret pounded the Charles B. Aycock defense for foul goals in the first 20 minutes and cruised 7-1 in an Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference match at Hardy Talton Stadium.

The Patriots (14-4-1, 10-1 ECC) claimed a share of the regular-season title heading into today's home finale against Kinston. A victory assures West Carteret of a first-round bye in the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs, which begin next Wednesday.

Aycock (12-7) continued its late-season tailspin and entertains county rival Eastern Wayne today. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Jorge Delgado accounted for the Golden Falcons' lone goal in the 31st minute. Sophomore Garrett Davis had the assist.
