WCDS falls in regular-season finale
ROCKY MOUNT -- Wayne Country Day concluded the regular season with a 4-2 loss Thursday afternoon against Faith Christian in Classes 1-A/2-A Coastal Plains Independent Conference action.
"I played everybody yesterday to save players for the playoffs," Chargers coach Michael Taylor.
Kevin Logan converted an indirect kick and assisted Will Futrelle on a goal. Wayne Country Day scored each goal the first five minutes of each half.
The Chargers (13-6-1) continue play at home next Tuesday against either Village Christian or Rocky Mount Academy in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association playoffs.
Recreation 13-15 soccer
Wayne Christian 4, YMCA 1 -- Bradley Yelverton, Spencer Wise, Joe Carter and Gregory Alexander each scored a goal. Keeper Travis Thomas collected five saves. Wayne Christian (7-1-1) plays St. Mary's next Tuesday.
