MOUNT OLIVE -- For the Mount Olive College women's soccer team, last year's 3-15 record seems like a distant memory. In fact, the Trojans are one win away from completely reversing their record from a year ago.

Mount Olive has an opportunity to clinch a top-three conference finish as the Trojans play host to Queens in Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference women's soccer Saturday at Trojan Field. Match time is 2 p.m.

Mount Olive (14-3-0 overall, 6-2-0 CVAC) is coming off a pair of 7-0 non-conference wins as the Trojans play their first conference match in two weeks. Gina Dos Santos, this week's CVAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week, extended her goal-scoring streak to six consecutive matches with two more goals Wednesday against Meredith. Dos Santos ranks second in the CVAC with 14 goals this season, eight coming in her last six matches. Melanie Cobb, who also scored two goals Wednesday, continues to rank in the top 10 in the nation in goals and points with a school-record 22 goals. Emily Escolas, who scored two goals in her first eight matches, has nine goals in her last nine contests.

Queens (7-7-1, 5-3-1) is coming off a 3-0 victory over Anderson Tuesday.

Mount Olive is currently in second place in the CVAC standings with 18 points. (Three points for a win and one point for a tie.) A win Saturday guarantees the Trojans of finishing no lower than third in the CVAC standings and keeps their hopes alive for a second-place finish. Mount Olive has already clinched homefield advantage in the first round of the CVAC Tournament. Queens needs a win to clinch a first-round home match.

Belmont Abbey has already clinched the regular season title and No. 1 seed in the tournament.

Saturday's contest marks the career regular season home finale for Mount Olive's two seniors. Jamie Brooks and Heather Ressler will be honored prior to the match.
