Golden Falcons top Patriots

MOREHEAD CITY -- Charles B. Aycock's Lindsey Newman pounded 15 kills as the Golden Falcons completed a season sweep of West Carteret with a 25-17, 25-12, 15-25, 25-21 win on Tuesday.

Aycock (14-3 overall) improved to 11-2 in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference with three games left.

Kandace Burroughs added 11 kills for the Falcons, while teammate Chrissy Setliff served up six aces.

Aycock hosts South Central on Thursday.

Hill, Eagles pound Rebels

CALYPSO -- Rosewood's Jessica Hill had 13 kills and 11 blocks to help guide the Eagles to a 25-18, 25-21, 26-24 win at North Duplin in Class 1-A Carolina Conference action on Tuesday.

Morgan Wheeler added nine blocks for Rosewood (15-4, 8-3 Carolina), while Abigail Barrow provided 14 assists, three kills and two aces. Hannah Aycock had four digs on the afternoon.

The Eagles, currently in second-place in the conference, travel to rival Princeton on Thursday in both team's regular-season finale.

Hawks keep rolling in EPC

PINETOPS -- North Lenoir's Leslie Oliver had 11 kills on Tuesday as the Hawks swept SouthWest Edgecombe 25-18, 27-25, 25-13.

The win improves the Hawks (19-1) to 5-0 in the Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference heading into their regular season finale at home on Thursday against Tarboro. North Lenoir has already sealed its fourth straight, regular season title.

Randi Moulton added nine kills and five blocks for the Hawks on Tuesday, while Brittany Sanders was a perfect, 24-for-24 from the service line.

Warriors sweep county rivals

Eastern Wayne's Kristen Elliott and Anna Wilkins had 10 kills each as the Warriors knocked off Goldsboro 25-10, 25-20, 25-11 on Tuesday at the Cougar Den.

Lindzy McDonald added seven kills for the Warriors (6-7 Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference), while Aricia Cox served on nine-straight points in the third game.

Eastern Wayne host Southern Wayne on Thursday as the Cougars travel to Kinston.

PHS battles in loss to Jags

FARMVILLE -- Princeton's Kortnie Yutzy served up seven aces and had three digs as the Bulldogs took Class 1-A Carolina Conference leader Farmville Central to five sets before falling 24-26, 10-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-13 on Tuesday.

Nicole Hargis was solid at the net for Princeton with nine kills and three blocks, while Melissa Worley added two aces and three digs.

The Bulldogs (11-9, 6-5 Carolina) host Rosewood in both team's regular season finale on Thursday.

Faith falls in four

KINSTON -- Faith Christian's Elizabeth Clarke had eight kills and one ace for the Conquerors in a 14-25, 25-9, 25-21, 25-17 road loss at Bethel Christian-Kinston on Tuesday.

Christy Charles added four kills for the Conquerors, who dropped to 2-3 in conference play.

Faith travels to Victory Christian-Elizabeth City on Friday.

WCDS stopped at home

Wayne Country Day's Heather Daughtery provided six aces and four digs in the Chargers' 25-9, 25-19, 25-20 loss at home to Kerr-Vance on Tuesday.

Laura Ziemer added three kills and three tips for Wayne Country Day (8-10, 4-3 Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference) as Amanda Knutson served up two aces and had three kills and five digs.

Wayne Country Day makes the short trip to Goldsboro today for a non-conference match.

Rams defend

home floor

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central's Brianna Stanton served on 20 points to help boost the Rams past Tarboro 25-12, 25-14, 25-13 at home on Tuesday.

Peoria Wade served on 18 points for the Rams (8-9, 6-3 Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference), who travel to South Lenoir on Thursday.

Spartans take Tigers in three

CLINTON -- James Kenan's Alisha Tabor paced the Tigers' attack on Tuesday in a 25-18, 25-22, 25-9 loss at Union

The loss drops Kenan (9-9 overall) as they completed Class 1-A Super Six Conference play at 5-5.

The Tigers' Courtney Miller was applauded for her defensive effort.

Kenan opens conference tournament play on Monday.

Hawks sweep Cougars

PINETOPS -- North Lenoir's Brynne Fulghum was 23-for-23 from the service line to lead the Hawks past SouthWest Edgecombe 25-15, 25-13 on Tuesday.

The win improved North Lenoir to 11-8 overall and 6-3 in the Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference.

Brittany McPhail added six kills for the Hawks, while teammate Maddie Williamson provided five kills.

North Lenoir hosts Tarboro on Thursday in its season finale.

Princeton drops Farmville

FARMVILLE -- Princeton's Heather Smith served up six aces in the Bulldogs' 26-24, 15-25, 25-12 win at home against Farmville Central on Tuesday.

Tiesha Williams added five aces and one kill for Princeton (8-9 overall), who improved to 7-4 in the Class 1-A Carolina Conference. Cynthia Peedin had four aces and three kills.

The Bulldogs host rival Rosewood on Thursday.

Kerr-Vance tops Chargers

Wayne Country Day's Heather Price served up three aces as the Chargers lost a 25-10, 25-20 decision at home on Tuesday to Kerr-Vance.

Kayla Flanagan added two aces for the Chargers (7-10, 3-4 Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference).

Aycock claims road win

Aycock improved to 11-2 overall and 8-1 in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference heading into Thursday's home match with Souch Central.

RHS continues solid season

CALYPSO -- Rosewood's Courtney Hill had four aces and six blocks in the Eagles' 25-9, 25-17 win at North Duplin on Tuesday.

Roxie Phillips and Jamie Bold added four digs each for Rosewood (18-1, 10-1 Class 1-A Carolina Conference), who travels to Princeton on Thursday.

Kenan takes road tilt

CLINTON -- James Kenan's Stephene Williamson provided two kills in the Tigers' 19-25, 25-15, 25-16 win at Union on Tuesday.

The Tigers finished the regular season at 13-3 overall and 9-1 in the Class 1-A Super Six Conference tournament.
