Eagles survive in overtime

Wayne Christian's Eric Williams scored on a penalty kick in the second, sudden death overtime period as the Eagles emerged with a 4-3 win at home over Community Christian in a play-in game for the Class 1-A Carolina Christian Conference tournament.

The goal came after the two conference foes dueled for 99 minutes.

Shea Glaesman posted two goals, scoring in the 26th and 61st minute of the game, while Matt Davis added a goal for the Eagles (4-10-2) in the 39th minute.

Williams dished out two assists for Wayne Christian. Hayden Gardner had one assist.

Eagle goalie Ethan Ipock had 13 saves.

Wayne Christian moves on to face Cary Christian on the road on Tuesday in the conference tourney quarterfinals.

Community Christian finished its season at 3-8-2 overall.

Warriors roll on road

KINSTON -- Eastern Wayne's Andrew Corley scored two goals in the first 14 minutes as the Warriors went on to cruise past Kinston 8-3 on Monday in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play.

Nickoli Rosinski added two goals for Eastern Wayne (10-3, 7-1 ECC), while Joe Gossett, Jin Lee, Eric Bourgeois and Adam Corley posted one goal each.

Bobby Gambella dished out two assists. Justin Smith and Sean Worrell tallied one assist each.

The Warriors, currently in second place in the conference, outshot Kinston 17-7 and had a 7-0 lead before the Vikings got on the board 61 minutes into the match.

Michael Jones, Matt Irvin and Mohammed Ali scored for Kinston (3-10, 1-7 ECC).

Eastern Wayne travels to Washington on Wednesday.

Eagles blank Chargers

Rosewood's Trey Kriger turned in his first career hat trick (three goals) to help boost the Eagles to a 4-0 win at home against Carolina/Super Six 1-A Conference foe Ayden-Grifton on Monday.

Antell Richards had four saves in goal for Rosewood (9-7-1, 6-2), which turned in its fourth shutout of the season.

Joey Churchwell added one goal for the Eagles on an assist from Goss Kendall.

Rosewood hosts Wilson Beddingfield in a non-conference contest on Thursday.

CBA falls at home

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock took a 2-0 lead 10 minutes into its home match on Monday against Washington, before seeing the lead eventually dissolve in a 3-2 loss to the Pam Pack.

Garrett Davis boosted his team-leading goal total to 33 in the fourth minute, scoring on an assist from Jorge Delgado. Davis returned the favor six minutes later, assisting Delgado as the Falcons (11-5, 5-3 ECC) took a 2-0 lead.

Washington went on to outscore Aycock 3-0 the rest of the way, capped by a goal in the 68th minute to go up 3-2.

Jake Bunn finished with eight saves in goal for the Falcons, who host conference-leading West Carteret on Wednesday.

Washington (9-5-4, 4-3-1 ECC) travels to Eastern Wayne on Wednesday.

Hawks blank Greene Central

North Lenoir's Josh Williams scored twice in the Hawks' 2-0 win at home against Eastern Plains 2-A Conference opponent Greene Central on Monday.

The win improves North Lenoir to 8-4-2 overall and 2-1-0 against EPC foes.

Stihl Sowers and Israel Huerta had one assist each for the Hawks, who host Tarboro on Wednesday.

Panthers battle past Hobbton

NEWTON GROVE -- After trailing 2-1 at halftime, North Johnston outscored Hobbton by four goals in the second half to defeat the Wildcats 6-3 on Monday.

The win improves the Panthers (14-2-2 overall) to 6-0-1 in the Carolina/Super Six 1-A Conference heading into a showdown with fellow conference leader, James Kenan, on Wednesday in Warsaw.

North Johnston's Jake Lomonaco increased his school-record goal total to 34 with a hat trick (three goals) in the second half. Will Holloman added and Raul Farfan added one goal each in the second half.

Dale Price scored the Panthers' lone goal in the first half.

Farfan had two assists for North Johnston, while teammates Ashley Moore, Lomonaco, Nelson Reyes and Marvin Molina dished out one assist each.

Hobbton fell to 4-6-1 overall and 4-4 against conference opposition.

Tigers slam Gators

WARSAW -- James Kenan improved to 5-0-1 in the Classes 1-A Carolina/Super-Six Conference with a 13-1 win at Bill Taylor Field on Monday against Spring Creek.

The Tigers (10-2-2) host North Johnston on Wednesday.

Spring Creek (3-9-0, 2-6 C/SS) plays host to Farmville Central on Wednesday.
