SALEMBURG -- James Kenan turned in a late goal-line stand and preserved its third shutout of the year, 22-0, against Lakewood in the Class 1-A Super Six Conference opener both teams Friday.

The state-ranked Tigers remained unbeaten in three road games and climbed to 6-1 overall. The six wins is the most since 1998 when James Kenan participated in the Carolina Conference.

Leron Boykin bullied his way for touchdown runs of two and seven yards, minimal gains in an offense that amassed 262 yards rushing on 47 attempts. Kelvin Miller added 80 yards and a one-yard touchdown run on 16 totes, while Ronnie Williams collected 110 yards on 16 carries.

Miller completed five passes to four different receivers for 28 yards. Matt Bass, one of the area's top 10 receivers, grabbed two passes for 12 yards.

James Kenan held the Leopards to 52 yards total offense.

The Tigers, ranked seventh in the latest Associated Press prep 1-A poll, entertain Midway next Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Bill Taylor Field.
