Northern District -- Dare, Hyde, Currituck, and Beaufort Counties

Headboats: Headboat anglers caught pigfish, spot and sea mullet.

Private Boats: For the small boaters there were bluefish, some nice keeper flounder, speckled trout andweakfish.

Piers: Pier anglers caught black drum, spot and some nice size croakers. Scattered puppy drum were also reeled in.

Shore: Surf fishing slowed up this week with dirty water most of the week. There were scattered spot, grey trout and several large drum were released at the Point.

Central District -- Pamlico, Craven, Carteret, and Onslow Counties

Headboats: Boats are doing a lot of fishing. We are seeing nice red snapper about six pounds each and many beeliners. Also caught were triggerfish, grunts, big black bass, a couple of gags and 13 inch pinfish (yes -- A 13 inch pinfish!) and croakers. We also saw a nice yellow snapper and speckled hind.

Charter Boats: Weather kept many boats from fishing. Those that were fishing caught wahoo.

Private Boats: Speckled trout in the Newport River, and the Whiteoak River. A 1 3/4-pound spot was caught in the Whiteoak River along with silver perch. Small spots around the Beaufort drawbridge along withbluefish. There are many undersized red drum everywhere. Weakfish are reported under the Atlantic Beach bridge. Large pigfish in Swansboro in the Intracoastal.

Piers/Shore: Small bluefish at Fort Macon. Small spot, pigfish and undersized flounder on piers.

Southern District -- Pender, New Hanover and Brunswick Counties

Headboats: Nice weather allowed for some full/day trips. Vermilion snapper, triggerfish, amberjacks and some groupers were reported.

Charter Boats: Gulf stream trips produced some good catches of wahoo's along with some sailfish, bottom fishing charters reported a very good week on the groupers, and inshore charters caught flounder, gray trout and some red drum.

Private Boats: Stream fishing is good right now for wahoo's, some king mackerel are being reported around topsail inlet. Red drum, some up to 50 lbs, gray trout and some nice flounder are on the near/shore reefs.

Piers/Shore: Spot runs have occurred though out the week on most area piers. Sea mullets, pompano, bluefish and some keeper flounder were also reported. Topsail piers and carolina beach piers saw some king mackerels last week as well. Surf fishing is good right now with lots of blues and pompanos. There is some good drum fishing right now. Masonboro Island and Bald head Island are both producing some fish up to 50 pounds.
