Jason, Ballance lead C.B. Aycock

DUDLEY -- Charles B. Aycock's Jenny Jackson and Stephanie Ballance had six aces each as the Golden Falcons rolled to a 25-9, 25-20, 25-23 win at county rival Southern Wayne on Wednesday.

The win improves Aycock to 12-2 overall and 9-1 against Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference foes -- good for second place in the conference. The Saints (3-15) fell to 2-9 against ECC foes.

Lindsey Newman had nine kills for the Falcons, while Kandace Burroughs added seven kills.

Scarlett Joyner led Southern Wayne with eight kills.

Aycock returns to action on Oct. 5 at Kinston, while the Saints travel to Rosewood on Tuesday in a non-conference match.

Cougars battle in five-set loss

WASHINGTON -- Goldsboro fought hard in a tough 25-6, 19-25, 19-25, 25-15, 15-4 loss at Washington on Tuesday.

The loss drops the Cougars to 2-11 overall and 2-9 in the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference heading into an Oct. 5 match at home against South Central.

Eagles fall to Cary Christian

Wayne Christian fell to Cary Christian 19-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-19 on Tuesday night in a Carolina Christian 1-A Conference match.

The Eagles fell to 7-4 overall and 3-4 in conference play heading into today's match at Norlina.

Kenan posts five-set win

TEACHEY -- James Kenan's Lauren Lewis had two kills and two aces as the Tigers evened their conference record with a 25-14, 20-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-13 at Wallace-Rose Hill on Tuesday.

Kenan (7-7, 3-3 Class 1-A Super Six) got eight straight points on serve from Taylor Lanier in the third game. Lanier also had two aces and one kill.

Caroline Moore added three kills for the Tigers, while Alisha Taber posted two kills.

Kenan hosts Hobbton today.

Aycock tops county rival

DUDLEY -- Charles B. Aycock's Shelly Lancaster tallied four aces and three kills to boost the Falcons past Southern Wayne 25-4, 25-19 on Wednesday.

Aycock (10-2, 7-1 Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference) travels to Kinston on Oct. 5.

Tigers sweep Bulldogs

TEACHEY -- James Kenan's Hannah Adams served on 25 points as the Tigers cruised past Wallace-Rose Hill 25-16, 25-17 on Tuesday in the Bulldogs' gymnasium.

Lauren Houston added two kills for Kenan (9-3, 5-1 Class 1-A Super Six Conference), who hosts Hobbton today.

Princeton wins at home

PRINCETON -- Princeton's Cynthia Peedin had five kills and seven digs as the Bulldogs defeated Spring Creek 25-21, 25-13 on Tuesday.

Brittany Atkinson added three aces and nine digs for the Bulldogs (5-9, 4-4 Class 1-A Carolina Conference), while Heather Smith provided four aces, two kills and nine digs.

Princeton travels to North Duplin today.

Middle schools

Frink d. Rochelle 25-11, 25-8 -- Jamie Phillips, Jordan Hudson and Megan Johnson paced Frink at the service line. In the non-conference game Frink (6-1) defeated Rochelle 25-16, 25-11. Frink faces Woodington next.
