Forbis seizes 18-hole win
DUDLEY -- Kelli Forbis claimed medalist honors with an 18-hole round of 90 and sparked Charles B. Aycock to yet another team win on the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference girls golf scene.
Forbis' low score, accompanied with Morgan Lane's 93, gave the Golden Falcons a two-player total of 183 at Southern Wayne Country Club. Teammates Brooke Newell and Brittany Ballance also participated in the match.
Brittney Taylor carded a 93 and Ashley Smith added a 99 to lead Eastern Wayne to second-place finish and score of 192. Heather Raczkowski and Megan Sutton played as well.
Jordan Hill turned in a 109 as the host Saints claimed third at 220. Teammate Lynn Grantham contributed a 111. Alyssa Bradshaw and Tricia Blackman also competed for Southern Wayne.
The teams return to action next Tuesday at Quaker Neck Country Club, the home course for West Craven.
Lane Tree Ladies Golf
Linda Cannon emerged the low net winner for play ending the week of Sept. 26.
Cannon and Teresa Shearin tied for game-of-the-week honors. Shearin, Cannon and Libby Newsome all shared the low putt award.
Walnut Creek Ladies Golf
Novella Zambelli seized play of the day honors at Walnut Creek.
Eloise Helms and Charlotte Campbell won low gross and low net, respectively, in first flight play.
In second flight play, Linda Cannon took low gross while Dot Julian emerged the low net winner.
Sue Wilson claimed low putts.
