James Kenan sweeps Wallace-Rose Hill
WARSAW -- Despite the windy conditions and intermittent rain showers, James Kenan swept the singles and doubles matches in a 9-0 victory against county rival Wallace-Rose Hill on Tuesday.
"The winds were a little tough today, which posed problems for both teams," Kenan coach Chip Hardy said. "At times, when the ball was tossed for the serve, the wind would blow it away but as the match played on, the winds finally calmed down."
Christa Jones, Allison Fonvielle, Erica Brown, Beth Parrish, Brittany Crabtree and Meagan Sanderlin each claimed a singles win for the Tigers. Sanderlin, the No. 6 seed, shut out her opponent while Brown lost just one game at No. 3.
The Tigers (6-2) travel to Wallace-Rose Hill on Thursday.

Greene Central
blitzes Rosewood
SNOW HILL -- Greene Central remained unbeaten in Classes 1-A/2-A Carolina/Eastern Plains Conference action with a 9-0 decision against Rosewood on the Snow Hill Tennis Complex courts.
The Rams climbed to 17-2 overall.
Meredith Rouse, Sarah Moore, Summer Chase, Holly Mace, Christi Murphy and Ashley Harrell each prevailed in their respective singles match. Moore shut out Leah Smith at the No. 2 slot.
Chase, Mace, Murphy and Harrell each lost just one game in straight-set victories. Harrell and Murphy continue to lead the team with 18 singles wins apiece, while Mace has 17 wins.
The tandems of Rouse-Moore, Brittany Horton-Carolyn Turk and Carly Hart-Michelle Jernigan each triumphed in doubles.
"Sarah played well for us today in doubles," Rams coach Donald Clark said. "We've been working a lot on moving in to make volleys, and she did an excellent job of displaying the skills we worked on at practice on Monday.
"Carolyn did an outstanding job of putting away overheads today. I was really pleased with her movement at the net."
Rosewood exited 9-6 overall and 8-6 against C/EPC opposition.
