Ignot's hat trick ignites Faith Christian to victory

Faith Christian's Fredy Ignot tallied a hat trick (three goals) to boost the Conquerors to a 6-2 win at home over Mount Calvary on Monday.

The win improves Faith to 6-2-1 on the season heading into today's match at home with Bethel Christian of Kinston.

The Conquerors' Stephen Marshal, Jonathan McNeese and Stephen Sloan scored once each, while Jonathan Ziegler grabbed three saves.

fifth shutout

DUDLEY -- Eastern Wayne's Jin Lee scored twice as the Warriors cruised to a 9-0 win at Southern Wayne on Monday.

The shutout was the Warriors fifth on the season.

Nickoli Rosinski and Lee scored once each before halftime with Joe Gossett assisting on Rosinski's goal.

Gossett opened the second-half scoring for Eastern Wayne three minutes in, as the Warriors went on to post six goals in the second frame.

David Hook, Lee, Adam Corley, Eric Bourgeois, Stephen Gourley and Dustin Smith tallied one goal each in the second half for Eastern Wayne, who improved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference play.

Andrew Corley, Rosinski and Bobby Gambella added one assist each.

The Warriors outshot the Saints 40-3.

Southern Wayne goalie Casey Best had eight saves as the Saints (1-6 overall) dropped to 0-4 in ECC play.

The Warriors host North Lenoir in a non-conference tilt tonight, while Southern Wayne travels to Kinston on Wednesday.

Spring Creek

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock defeated Spring Creek 5-0 at home on Monday.

The non-conference win improved the Golden Falcons to 9-3 overall, while the Gators dropped to 3-5-0.

Spring Creek coach Christy Shivar commended the play of Jed Potter, Bryce Holmes and goalie Jose Escobar.

The Falcons took a 1-0 lead into halftime before posting four second-half goals.

No further information was submitted on the match.

Aycock hosts South Central on Wednesday, while Spring Creek hosts North Johnston.

Panthers battle

past Chargers

LITTLEFIELD -- North Johnston's Josh Cooper and Kyle Schullery each scored their first career goals to help guide the Panthers to a 4-0 win at Ayden-Grifton on Monday.

The win improves the third-ranked North Johnston (10-2-2 overall) to 3-0-1 in Class 1-A Carolina/Super-Six Conference play.

Brooks Sullivan and Jake Lomonaco also scored once each for the Panthers, while Sullivan and Will Holloman notched assists.

North Johnston, who outshot the Chargers 19-7, continues conference play on Wednesday at Spring Creek.

Ayden-Grifton fell to 0-10 overall and 0-5 against conference foes.

Oakwood

Wayne Country Day's Jimmy Larson scored three goals as the Chargers turned in a 5-0 win at home over Oakwood on Monday.

Wayne Country Day got one goal each from E.J. York and Kevin Herring, while Cory Roberts posted the shutout in goal for the Chargers (3-3).

Wayne Country Day returns to action at home today against Kerr-Vance.

Middle Schools

Norwayne 7, Greenwood 2 -- Gavin Forrest posted three goals and one assist for Norwayne. Tyler Ruffin added two goals, while Tucker Pearson had a goal and three assists. Thomas Oliver posted one goal for the Cobras (5-0). Greenwood's Kevin Fraser had two goals as Alex Langille had an assist. Norwayne hosts Eastern Wayne on Oct. 4.

Eastern Wayne 3, Rosewood 1 -- Eastern Wayne's Sang Kim had one goal and two assists, while Walker Gourley added one goal and one assist. John Wooten also posted a goal for the Warriors (4-2). Rosewood (2-2) got one goal from Conner Adams and one assist from Zach Mangum. Eastern Wayne travels to Norwayne on Oct. 4.
