Football -- Vikings snap Rams' 19-game home win streak

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central fell victim to a good running game as D.H. Conley toppled the Rams 27-16 Friday night at the James R. Fulghum Athletic Complex.

The defeat snapped Greene Central's 19-game home win streak.

"They played as good as they could, and we didn't play a good game," said Greene Central coach Jim Bob Bryant "I told the boys before the game, this is not the same Conley that they used to play. Used to, we could play bad and still have a chance to win -- not now."

Conley ran for 230 yards and used the arm of Ryan McManus to get 211 more yards in the air.

The Rams broke a 10-10 tie when Mario Brown capped a drive with a one-yard plunge for a 16-10 lead. But Conley answered as Kelcie Best caught a McManus pass for a 53-yard touchdown. Scott Hilgoe's kick was good and Conley led 20-16.

Hilgoe edged the lead out to 23-16 with a 23-yard field goal, his second of the game, with 10:40 to play. Greene Central's next drive was thwarted when Rouse's pass was intercepted. Conley then mounted another drive which resulted in a two-yard run by Brian Daniels to put the game away.
