MOUNT OLIVE -- Coming into this weekend, the Mount Olive College men's soccer, women's soccer and women's volleyball teams sport a combined 22-6 record overall and a 10-2 mark in NCAA Division II Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference play.

The teams' combined winning streaks add up to 12. All three teams put their winning streaks on the line during a busy weekend at home.

Volleyball starts things off Saturday morning as Mount Olive plays host to Coker in a rare volleyball doubleheader. The first match gets underway at 10 a.m. and the "nightcap" serves up at 2 p.m. at College Hall. Both matches count toward the CVAC standings.

Mount Olive (9-4, 6-1 CVAC) is coming off a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Pfeiffer Wednesday. The win was the third in a row for the Trojans, who moved into sole possession of second place in the CVAC standings behind conference unbeaten St. Andrews, which handed Mount Olive its only conference loss.

Heidi Busch enters the match ranked eighth in the nation with 5.00 kills per game and has reached double figures in kills in every match this season, including 20 kills Wednesday. Anna Luft ranks in the nation's top 20 in hitting percentage and Colby Mangum is in the top 20 in blocks per game.

Coker (5-4, 2-1) is coming off a 3-1 non-conference loss to Francis Marion (S.C.) University on Wednesday.

The Mount Olive women's soccer team puts its school-record five-match winning streak on the line and tries to set a school single-season win mark as the Trojans play host to Erskine (S.C.) College on Saturday afternoon in a CVAC battle. Match time is 1 p.m. at Trojan Field.

Mount Olive (6-1-0, 3-1-0 CVAC) is playing its first match since last Saturday's 2-0 win at St. Andrews. The Trojans are in second place in the CVAC standings and have not lost since falling 1-0 to Pfeiffer in their conference opener September 1.

Melanie Cobb ranks in the top 10 in the nation in goals and points per game. Heidi Philip ranks third in the nation in assists per game and her five assists against Converse (S.C.) College earlier this month was one shy of the Division II single-game record.

Erskine (1-4-0, 0-2) fell 6-0 Tuesday to nationally 17th-ranked Catawba.

The Mount Olive men's soccer team puts its top-five regional ranking on the line Saturday as the Trojans play host Erskine in CVAC action. Match time is 3 p.m. at Trojan Field.

Mount Olive (7-1-0 overall, 3-0-0 CVAC) is tied for fifth in this week's Adidas/NSCAA Division II Southeast Region men's soccer rankings, the Trojans' third consecutive week in the top 10. Mount Olive defeated Francis Marion (S.C.) University 2-0 on Wednesday in an in-region non-conference contest.

Eastern Wayne graduate Cory Worrell, who ranks fourth in the nation in points per game and eighth in goals per game, has scored at least one goal in seven of the Trojans' first eight matches. Reid Clewis is second behind Worrell in the CVAC in goals scored, while Warren Atkins and Erik Small hold the top two positions in the conference in assists.

Erskine (0-3-1, 0-1-1) is coming off a 6-2 non-conference loss at Lenoir-Rhyne Wednesday. Last Saturday, Erskine played conference power Queens to a 1-1 tie, snapping a 13-year losing streak against Queens.

Mount Olive athletics action continues Sunday as the women's soccer team plays host to Ferrum (Va.) College in a non-conference contest. Match time is 2 p.m. at Trojan Field.
