North Johnston rallies past Rosewood
KENLY -- Rosewood led third-ranked North Johnston for 81 minutes before the Panthers posted two late goals to claim a 2-1 win at home on Wednesday in a Class 1-A Carolina/Super Six Conference clash.
The Eagles (5-6-1, 2-1 Carolina/SS) went up 1-0 in the 27th minute of the first half when Kyle Bunn knocked in a corner kick from Matt Howell. The 1-0 lead stood until halftime.
Jake Lomonaco eventually got the Panthers (9-2-2, 2-0-1 Carolina/SS) on the board with nine minutes left on an assist from Raul Farfan. The goal was Lomonaco's 17th of the year.
Farfan posted the game winner four minutes later on a pass from Nelson Reyes.
"The first 70 minutes, Rosewood outplayed us. At halftime I was concerned," North Johnston coach Brent Walston said. "Once we tied the game, it got us excited and we slowly began to pick things."
Jay Pittman and Josh Cooper combined for three saves for North Johnston, who travels to Ayden Grifton on Monday.
Rosewood hosts Hobbton on Monday.

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock's Garrett Davis scored four goals as the Golden Falcons topped Southern Wayne 7-2 at home on Wednesday.
The win improves Aycock to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference.
Carson Sasser, Andrew Musselman and Jorge Islas tallied one goal each for the Falcons, while Richard Holder, Chris Steed, Andrew Musselman and Alex Roosen notched assists.
Aycock hosts Spring Creek in a non-conference game on Monday, while the Saints (1-5, 0-3 ECC) entertain Eastern Wayne on Monday.
Hawks tie
East Duplin
North Lenoir's James Parker, Alex McGaughy and Josh Williams scored one goal each as the Hawks tied East Duplin 3-3 on Wednesday.
North Lenoir (6-2-1) opens Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference play on Monday at home against Tarboro.
