Saint's Allen wins at Cliffs of the Neuse
Southern Wayne's Allen Bennett claimed first place with a 20:15 in a three-team meet ran at Cliffs of the Neuse State Park on Monday.
North Duplin claimed the meet with 25 team points as Clint Bland paced the Rebels with a 20:50 -- good for second place.
Rosewood took second with 30 points. Casey Elrod led the Eagles with a third-place finish.
Jose Ledezma also turned in a fifth-place, 21:40 for North Duplin.
The Rebels and Eagles compete next at a Class 1-A Carolina Conference meet at Farmville Central on Wednesday. Southern Wayne travels to Washington in Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference action.
Tyson, Carraway
pace Rams
SNOW HILL -- Greene Central's Tony Tyson and Blair Carraway won their respective meets as the Rams picked up a pair of non-conference wins at home against Wilson Beddingfield.
Tyson (19:25) won the boys meet as the Rams (5-0) finished with 18 team points. Carraway's 26:19 won the girls meet with Greene Central's girls claiming 25 team points.
Neither Bruin team had enough runners to score as a team.
The Rams' Lance Murray, Dane Hines, Phillip Shelton and Cameron Taylor all finished in the top five. Ashley Oakes, Cassie Webb, Amber Oakes and Tonya McGee rounded out the top five for the Greene Central girls (3-2).
The Rams compete at home against SouthWest Edgecombe on Wednesday.
