Davis scores a pair as C.B. Aycock blanks Pam Pack

WASHINGTON -- Charles B. Aycock's Garrett Davis scored twice at Washington -- boosting his goal total to 21 -- as the Falcons dropped the Pam Pack 2-0 on Wednesday.

The win was Aycock's first at Washington in four seasons as it improved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference.

Davis scored 40 seconds into the game on a corner kick from Danny Derwitz then capped the scoring two minutes into the second half on an assist from Jeff Mullins.

Falcon coach Kevin Adkins praised the midfield and defensive effort as Aycock outshot the Pam Pack 21-6. Defender Tyler Mills was awarded with "man-of-the-match" honors following the contest.

Aycock and goalie Jake Bunn turned in their fourth shutout of the season

The Falcons travel to West Carteret on Monday.

Rosewood

blanks Chargers

LITTLEFIELD -- Rosewood's Joey Churchwell turned in his first career hat trick (three goals) as the Eagles claimed a 5-0 win at Ayden-Grifton on Wednesday.

The win improves Rosewood (4-5-1 overall) to 2-0 in Class 1-A Carolina/Super Six Conference play heading into Monday's game at home against North Lenoir. The Eagles' scheduled match today at Greene Central has been postponed and not rescheduled as of yet.

Kyle Bunn scored Rosewood's first two goals -- coming up from his defensive position to knock in headers off of long throw-ins from Brandon Hietpas. The Eagles took a 3-0 lead into halftime on the first of Churchwell's three goals.

Churchwell scored twice in the second half, once on an assist from Matt Howell and once unassited. Howell finished with two assists.

Panthers

handle Hobbton

KENLY -- North Johnton's Jake Lomonaco and Ashley Moore scored two goals each as the Panthers rolled past Hobbton 6-0 in Class 1-A Carolina/Super Six Conference play on Wednesday.

The Panthers took a 5-0 lead into halftime with Lomonaco and Moore both scoring twice, while Jay Pittman added his first career goal. Pittman came out of the goal to take a penalty kick in the 34th minute.

Raul Farfan capped the scoring for North Johnston six minutes into the second half after dishing out two assists earlier in the game. Dale Price also had two assists for the Panthers (8-2-1, 1-0 Carolina/SS).

Lomonaco now has 16 goals on the season. North Johnston outshot Hobbton 19-8 as Panther goalies Pittman and Josh Cooper combined for North Johnston's first shutout of the year.

The Panthers, who have not lost in nine games, hosts James Kenan on Monday.
