Ziemer leads Wayne Country Day over Greenfield

Wayne Country Day's Laura Ziemer had nine aces and three kills to help boost the Chargers to a 25-12, 25-19, 20-25, 25-19 win at home over Greenfield School on Tuesday.

The win improves Wayne Country Day to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference.

Amanda Knutson added 10 kills and four aces for the Chargers, while Amanda Benton provided 13 kills and two aces.

The Chargers travel to Kerr-Vance on Thursday.

Hawks take

EPC opener

DEEP RUN -- North Lenoir's Randi Moulton had 12 kills and five blocks as the Hawks swept rival South Lenoir 25-18, 25-17, 25-16 at the Blue Devils' gymnasium on Tuesday.

The match was the Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference opener for the Hawks (11-1, 1-0 EPC).

Leslie Oliver registered five kills for North Lenoir, who travels to Greene Central on Thursday.

Falcons post

road win

WINTERVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock's Lindsey Newman had 12 kills in a 18-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-18 at South Central on Tuesday on the road.

Stephanie Ballance provided eight aces for the Falcons, who also got a strong effort from setter Julia Lancaster.

Aycock (8-2, 5-1 Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference) hosts Eastern Wayne Thursday at home.

South Central (7-7, 4-3 ECC) hosts West Carteret on Sept. 21.

Kenan wins

on road

NEWTON GROVE -- James Kenan's Alisha Taber served on 12 points in a row during the third game as the Tigers won 25-21, 25-19, 25-11 at Hobbton on Tuesday.

Caroline Moore added three kills for Kenan, who improved to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in the Class 1-A Super-Six Conference.

The Tigers take on Lakewood on Thursday.

Farmville sweeps

North Duplin

CALYPSO -- Farmville Central improved to 4-0 in the Class 1-A Carolina Conference with a 25-21, 27-25, 26-24 win at North Duplin on Tuesday.

The Rebels' Sierra Ward had nine kills, three blocks and three digs for the Rebels, while Bethany Malcolm added five kills, four aces and served on 11 points. Emily Deibert was praised for solid defense and serving.

The Jaguars (10-1 overall) travel to Princeton on Thursday. North Duplin hosts Rosewood on Thursday.

Gators fall

to Chargers

AYDEN -- Ayden-Grifton topped Spring Creek 25-16, 27-25, 25-18 on Tuesday at home.

The Chargers are now 2-2 in the Class 1-A Carolina Conference and host North Johnston on Thursday.

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central's Briana Stanton and Teketia May had six kills each as the Rams defeated North Pitt 25-18, 21-25, 19-25, 25-23, 15-7 on Tuesday at home.

The Rams improved to 3-8 overall heading into Thursday's match-up with North Lenoir.

WINTERVILLE -- South Central handed C.B. Aycock a 25-18, 25-22 loss in Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference play on Tuesday.

Lauren Pratt had six kills for the Golden Falcons, while Shelly Lancaster added three kills.

Aycock (7-2, 4-1 ECC) hosts Eastern Wayne on Thursday.

Eagles stay

KENLY -- Rosewood's Courtney Hill had five kills and five aces to pace the Eagles past North Johnston 25-19, 25-22 in Class 1-A Carolina Conference action on Tuesday at the Panthers' gym.

Kasie Braswell added three kills and one ace for the Eagles, who improved to 10-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Aubrey Reinhard dished out three assists, while drilling two kills and two aces.

The Eagles continue conference play on Thursday at home against North Duplin.

Wayne Country Day's Heather Price had six aces as the Chargers rolled to a 25-3, 25-13 victory at home over Greenfield School on Tuesday at home.

Natalie Bryan added four aces for the Chargers (2-4, 1-0 Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference) as Kayla Flanagan, Stephanie Sykes and Danielle Holland provided two aces each.
