Faith Christian blanks Liberty

FAYETTEVILLE -- Faith Christian's Stephen Sloan and Freddy Ignot scored two goals each as the Conquerors defeated Liberty of Fayetteville 4-0 on Tuesday.

Faith goalie Jonathan Ziegler had one save for the Conquerors, who improved to 5-1 on the season. Faith hosts Liberty of Durham on Friday at 4 p.m.

Walnut Creek Ladies Golf

Faye Franklin aced the hole No. 9 at Walnut Creek Country Club recently. This was her fourth hole-in-one in her career. She used a five-iron. Witnessing this event were Sue Wilson and Linda Cannon.

Play of the day went to Linda Cannon, while Kathy Woodard took first flight, low gross. Gaye Bryant took low net in the first flight. In the second flight, low gross went to Sue Wilson, while Joyce Reynolds took low net.

The overall winner for low putts went to Brooke Eason. Players are encouraged to register for the Walnut Creek Ladies Club Championship before Sept. 24. Players will be notified of tee times and pairings after the 24th.
