ANDERSON, S.C. -- Melanie Cobb scored the tying goal in the 70th minute and scored the game-winner four minutes into overtime as Mount Olive defeated host Anderson 2-1 in an NCAA Division II Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference women's soccer game Saturday afternoon.

The Trojans (4-1-0, 1-1-0 CVAC) outshot Anderson 7-2 in the first half, but the two teams went into halftime tied 0-0.

Heidi Philip appeared to be on target on a 30-yard free kick in the 34th minute, but Anderson goalkeeper Meghan Woodall made a diving save to keep the match scoreless.

Anderson (0-4-0, 0-1-0) broke the tie in the 59th minute as Crystal Gaffney's shot rolled into the goal off the left post. Mount Olive tied the match at the 69:57 mark as Kate Painter dribbled down the left endline and served to Cobb at the far post.

Each team had a scoring chance in a frantic final minute of regulation, but neither team was able to capitalize. After the clock was stopped with 45 seconds remaining due to a Mount Olive injury, Trojan goalkeeper Heather Ressler made a save on an Anderson corner kick. An Anderson yellow card gave Mount Olive an indirect kick with 19 seconds left, but Anderson was able to clear the ball before the Trojans could get a shot off.

In the overtime, Painter served the ball to Cobb, whose first shot deflected off the keeper, but Cobb recaptured the ball and put in the winning goal at 93:51. Cobb has scored eight goals in her last three matches.

The win is the Trojans' first in conference play since the 2002 season.
