Panthers collect
fifth straight win
KENLY -- Five players accounted for one or more goals as North Johnston extended its winning streak to five matches with a 6-1 hammering of non-conference foe Southern Nash.
Jake Lomonaco collected his team-leading 14th goal in the 18th minute off an assist from junior midfielder Garrett Stancil. Stancil added a goal in the 36th minute from senior midfielder Nelson Rays.
"It was a give-and-go shot from twenty-five yards out that froze the keeper and curled into the right corner of the net," second-year Panthers coach Brent Walston said.
The winless Firebirds, members of the Class 3-A Big Eight North Conference, trimmed the lead in half in the 42nd minute.
North Johnston finally took control in the 60th minute on Raul Farfan's goal off Stancil's assist. Senior forward Ashley Moore and Holloman scored in the 75th and 78th minute, respectively, off assists from Stancil.
Panther keepers Jay Pittman and Josh Cooper combined for four saves.

Trailing 4-3 in the second half, Reed fed a pass to Sam Steed, who finished off the goal in the 68th minute.
Parrott, of the Eastern Plains Independent 2-A Conference, answered with the final goal in the 75th minute.
"We had our opportunities," second-year Chargers coach Michael Taylor said. "With about a minute to go in the game, Futrelle and their goalie had a breakaway together, and Futrelle kicked it right toward the goalie.
"I was proud of the way the guys played."
The Chargers competed without sweeper John Bridgers, who missed the match due to surgery.
