Prep tennis -- EW wins in ECC

KINSTON -- Under a steady drizzle and dreary conditions, Eastern Wayne claimed a 7-2 win in Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference action on Tuesday.
The Warriors' Ashley Smith, Brandi Butts, Tricia Chatman, Lauren Bynum and Sammi Abrahamson all picked up straight-set singles wins. In doubles, the combinations of Chatman-Bynum and Smith-Abrahamson claimed wins for the Warriors.
Eastern Wayne travels to South Central on Thursday.
